think about it. had religion not existed, humans probably wouldnt consider themselves superior to other species. human population would be reasonable. animals wouldnt be going extinct all the fucking time.

thanks a lot, christians.

Animals have been going extinct long before humans existed.

Religion is more of a reflection of humanity's problems, than a cause.

It would probably be worse dumbass, since the majority of religions forbid sex before marriage. Otherwise centuries ago girls could have been having kids much earlier.

Except for the mass extinctions millions of years ago, animals had only been extinct at the rate of about 50 species per year, which was still sustainable.

But now because of humans it's up to about 1,000 a year so more species are dying out then can be replaced.

I disagree... only some religions have a reputation for creating problems...

in ancient times there was actually a fair ammount of religious harmony, at least in old rome when it was still pagan (before constantine). Most religions were allowed to be practiced, and tolerance was fairly common. Greek people could worship greek gods, when greece invaded egypt they didn't change the religion there. Actually (alexander the great I think) the greek one who conquered egypt made sacrifices to egyptian gods and took his place on the throne as pharaoh. No, religion hasn't caused all the worlds problems. Ever thought of trade routes in ancient times being seized? tell me how that's directly related to religion. Also, for whomever says religion has worn out it's welcome (or is useless, to be replaced by science) I believe that's wrong also because religion isn't all about explaining how things happened, it is both a means for people to try and become active spiritually, and more importantly a means of self expression.

I am aware of that.

Apparently, God doesn't care about his other creations.

You're abolutely right, Christians are reponsible for the Iraq war, the Cold War, World War 2, Vietnam, World War 1, the Korean War, The Revolutionary War, The War on Drugs, The Civil War, Star Wars, The War of the Roses, The Peloponnesian War.

Also in ancient times, cavemen used to use small crosses with pointed tips to kill animals because Jesus told them to.

Hell, even during the migration west in the US, Christians used to drown the buffalo in holy water before cooking them.

Native americans used to crucify deer on the sabbath. Then they'd wear the fur during winter to prove the righteousness of the Lord.

You're absolutely right about people being reasonable too. In N. Korea, Kim Jong Il is forcing people to memorize the entire new testament or he'll inject them with Anthrax. In Cuba, Castro used to partol the streets every sunday and if he saw someone not in church, he'd burn them alive.

Man, why did Jesus have to come and ruin humanity?

TRIBALISM.

This is an innate attribute.

Religion is no more a manifestation of tribalism as the football team I support.

Accept these facts.

Religion never starts a war, tribalism does, and the other tribe may very well be of a different religion (which is where religion comes into war) but the key point is that they are a different tribe.

If religion never existed then tribalism would simply focus on some other attribute, for example the skin colour or language spoken by the other tribe (which isn't to say that these aren't attributes identified for purposes of war nowadays).

Religion doesn't cause anything but thought. Religious FANATICS, however, have cause much of the world's problems.
