1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Doesn't this imply that there were many gods, who had daughters? And that the gods and they're children intergrated with man?

3 And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be and hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days: and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to the, the same became mighty men, which were of old, men of renown.

A mention of "giants". What do you think it means by "giants"?

4 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it frieved him at his heart.

So, god regrets something. To regret something you admit to making a mistake, right?

And the LORD said, I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the fact of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man, and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

I'm assumed "walked with god" implies he "followed the path of god".

10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them: and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark of gopher woof: rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

What's a cubit? How big is this actually?

[b]

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the sie thereof: with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant: and thou shalt come into the ark; thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives, with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind; of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind; two of every sort shall come unto three, to keep them alive.

21 And take thou unto thee of all good that is eaten, and thou shalt father it to thee; and it shall be for good for thee and for them.

22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Recap: God finds only one decent man left in the world, and that's Noah. He tells Noah to build a really big "ark" and gives specific directions for how the ark should be built. And Noah builds the ark.

Cheers,

Lost

Maybe "sons of god" refers to angels? O many gods, in which case is yet another instance in which christianity contradicts itself.

....people like goliath

right. And in exodus moses gets God to change his mind, lol.

Who knows.

A cubit is the distance from the tip of your middle finger to your elbow. Primitive, I know.

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the sie thereof: with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

Maybe "sons of god" refers to angels? O many gods, in which case is yet another instance in which christianity contradicts itself.

i doubt that it refers to angels because the word "elohiym" is preceded by the word "ben"

Strong's Ref. # 1121

Romanized ben

Pronounced bane

from HSN1129; a son (as a builder of the family name), in the widest sense (of literal and figurative relationship, including grandson, subject, nation, quality or condition, etc., [like HSN0001, HSN0251, etc.]):

KJV-- + afflicted, age, [Ahoh-] [Ammon-] [Hachmon-] [Lev-]ite, [anoint-]ed one, appointed to, (+) arrow, [Assyr-] [Babylon-] [Egypt-] [Grec-]ian, one born, bough, branch, breed, + (young) bullock, + (young) calf, X came up in, child, colt, X common, X corn, daughter, X of first, + firstborn, foal, + very fruitful, + postage, X in, + kid, + lamb, (+) man, meet, + mighty, + nephew, old, (+) people, + rebel, + robber, X servant born, X soldier, son, + spark, + steward, + stranger, X surely, them of, + tumultuous one, + valiant[-est], whelp, worthy, young (one), youth.

i am at the very lowest stage of teaching myself hebrew, so i am not an authority..

but, it seems to me that in other areas where "elohiym" is used to mean angels, it is not preceded by the word for son... also the word "ben" according to strong's, doesnt imply anything close to "angel" as far as i see.

3 And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be and hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days: and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to the, the same became mighty men, which were of old, men of renown./b

<A mention of "giants". What do you think it means by "giants"?>

i am pretty sure that it DOESNT mean a baseball team...

anyway, i was going to use strong's on this but the program performed an illegal act and shut down, so instead of opening it again, i am going to just make a comment that has little to no basis...just a thought that i have. forgive spelling errors please.

the word for giant is from the word nephelym..which is literally bully or tyrant, and in english, it looks like the word nephlish... which is the word for the breath of life, so my take on this is that the word that KJV gives as giant, is really just people, probably descendants of Cain.

What i am GUESSING, is that the sons of God are men from Seth's line. And the daughters of men are from Cain's line...or something like that.

I think its time to call it a night.

edit is that i deleted everything else

I heard a guy on Coast to Coast AM talking about how he was going to find the ark. He was a young earth creationist and spouted the same half ass explanations that you read on all the websites. He claimed that all people were giants before the flood because of the vapour canopy. I would really like to see someone raise kids in a giant hyperbaric chamber to prove that he is full of shit. I am suprised that he did not say that the measurements of the ark would be bigger than traditionaly stated because the cubits would be based on giant's arms.

This guy lost all my respect when he admitted to beliving macroevolution after going on about the six day creation story. He claim that Noah would not have to take all modern species because pre-flood species could adapt to their new enviroments to become modern animals.
