Actually Jesus was/is his name. It's pronounced, Yay-shoe-wa. Which is the long ass name you stated: "Yeoushoua", the rest of what you said answers his question though.

LMFAO!
So his surname was "son of Joseph"? Doesn't sound like a surname to me...
In Hebrew Jews are called "something son of something" so in answer to your question, he had no surname as far as I am aware.
(p.s. Christ means "the annointed one" so that definately isn't his surname)

EG:
Davidson: Son of David
Osama bin Laden: (supposedly) Osama, son of Laden
However, surnames such as o'Connor refer to places. So, Joseph o'Connor would mean Joseph, ruler of Connor, and Herbert deLosinga (deLosigna?) would be Herbert, ruler of Losign(ng)a.

"ruler of"?
I don't know about the "O'" for Irish surnames, but "de" in Italian is just "of".
So Herbert DeLosigna would be "Herbert of Losigna". Now Losigna would either refer to a place or a famiglia (like a clan or "house").
In Irish, " O' " means 'descended from.'
Ex: my name is Doyle. The translation of that to Irish is O'Dubgaill (or O'Dubhghaill, if you like gratuitous consonants). This literally means, "descended from the dark strangers."

Read the posts. Christ is a title.
So did someone get Jesus out of Yeoushoua in the same way the got Jehovah out of YHWH? Or is it a tranlation like how Ivan is John in Russian?

I think that it goes something like this:
Jesus < (Latin) Iesus < (Greek) Iesous
< (Hebrew) Yeshua < (a variation of) Yehoshua.. which means something like "God is help"
And i think the Middle or Old English used "Jesu"

Actually, Mary Magdalene (which is how you spell that, BTW) was one of his students.

Actually, if you wanted to get technical, it should be Jesus "the" Christ. But oh well... you crazy Christians.
