I have become a born-again Christian and recognize JESUS CHRIST as my lord and PERSONAL SAVIOUR. However I have been struggling with ocd and particularly obsessive praying i can not tell whether my urge to pray is the HOLY SPIRIT or ocd. I have all these illogical thoughts like if i sleep in the living room ill go to hell or if i go to totse ill go to hell.

I fell like i have sinned to much and as cliche as it sounds am somehow beyond redemption just last week i have masturbated and had sex with a man.

I dont really know what this topic is for.

you are not going to hell.

focus on being a decent, upstanding, productive member of society, and stop making stupid decisions. don't focus on sins you can't take back, or sins you have not yet committed, it's a waste of time, and will lead you down a dark path. it is not for you to worry about whether or not you fall short in God's eyes. that's only for Him to decide.

everyone stumbles. all that He asks of you is that you hold love in your heart. that's it. remember to love, and you will be saved.

asking anything more would make a sinner of Him.

If you have sunken to the most depraved level of sodomy, it is plainly obvious that the Lord has washed his hands of you, that you are not of God's elect, and when you perish (as you surely will, for it is appointed for all men to die), you will go straight to hell.

Sorry... couldn't resist that little bit of calvanist brimstone stuff.

Fred Phelps cracks me up.

No idea where you're likely to go, if anywhere.

My advice to everyone, but especially to any born again christian is to read the bible. Read it from beginning to end. Avoid the Saint James version, if possible, but The Saint James version really is fine if you're a christian, because you'd be focusing more on the New Testament anyways.

Anyways, read the bible. So many people go to churches all their lives and just sit there in the audience listening to some guy rant on about his personal interpretation of the bible, without ever opening a bible themselves. Never able to form their own opinion they simply trust that the preacher is telling them the right thing.

But, people are faulters. Even preachers, even priests, even rabbis, even nuns.

Read the bible. It's not nearly as boring as it seems like it would be. And if you're really OCD you can probably convince yourself that reading the bible each night is saving you from eternal damnation.

Furthermore, I don't know what sect of christianity you've decided to be born again into, but I know that in christianity all you have to do is ask for forgiveness and truly repent for your sin and you will be forgiven.

And if all that Christian stuff is true, from what I've studied, as long as you accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior and repent genuinely for your sins you will not go to Hell.

According to christianity, Hell is for people who deny Jesus Christ as their lord and savior and commit sins without repenting.

Again, I'll say read the bible.

Don't let a corrupt preacher corrupt your faith.

Cheers,

Lost

(14) Jesus said to them, "If you fast, you will give rise to sin for yourselves; and if you pray, you will be condemned; and if you give alms, you will do harm to your spirits. When you go into any land and walk about in the districts, if they receive you, eat what they will set before you, and heal the sick among them. For what goes into your mouth will not defile you, but that which issues from your mouth - it is that which will defile you."

(44) Jesus said, "Whoever blasphemes against the father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven either on earth or in heaven."

(67) Jesus said, "If one who knows the all still feels a personal deficiency, he is completely deficient."

(99) The disciples said to him, "Your brothers and your mother are standing outside."

He said to them, "Those here who do the will of my father are my brothers and my mother. It is they who will enter the kingdom of my father."

(113) His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?"

<Jesus said,> "It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'here it is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it."

Instead of reading the bible, why don't you try Joshua? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0684813467/qid=1101948471/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/002-1708519-8432016

Its a more recent interpertaion of the bible and much more readable.

You said you are a new Christian. As you grow in faith, you will learn to distinguish.

I have all these illogical thoughts like if i sleep in the living room ill go to hell or if i go to totse ill go to hell.

i know it has already been said, but, sinning vs. doing good (not sinning) is not what condemns to hell. We were born into sin, therefore, we are all deserving of hell. Salvation comes from Grace, Grace comes from believing, and believing comes from the Word.

I fell like i have sinned to much and as cliche as it sounds am somehow beyond redemption

If you keep the whole Law but stumble on one point, you are not pure. All (people) fall short of the Glory of God. Faith that The Christ died for your (all of us/our) sins is the way to Heaven.

just last week i have masturbated and had sex with a man.

Jesus saves -- will save -- has saved. It is a continual process.

The purpose of trying not to sin is twofold:

First, it is a way of thanks to God for His Grace and Love.

Second, it is a way to show others your belief.

Repentence and remorse are very important, but try not to be too hard on yourself. Use each sin as lesson to grow in Faith and to better understand your relationship with God.

I'm guessing the topic is to help you get stuff off your chest and to help you sort out some misunderstandings that you have, of your new life in Jesus.
