Currently, I'm Catholic, and I want to convert to Buddhism. I'm planning on Joining the Halifax Buddhist Temple.

After doing lots of research on many religions throughout the world, I've made my decision on Buddhism.

What do you guys think?

Has anyone here ever reached Nirvana? (LOL)

I think it's a nice upgrade. I also think you shouldn't have used a '3' instead of an 'e' in the title.

I just used the 3 because i accidentally typed it, and was on the verge of correcting it when I thought it would give my thread some flavour. What's your religion?

Yeah it's still not agnosticism but it's better than Catholicism.

Why would you want to place your belief under a label? Wouldn't that make it no longer your belief?

I hate people like you.

Sorry, but I'm sick and fucking tired of random-ass white boys rebelling against thier western, judeo-christian upbringing. Prepubescent retards. They think buddhism is different and cool and rebellious.

I fucking hate it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I've seen you posting some pretty lame racial remarks in some of those stupid "I hate niggers" threads. You are an idiot and have no business anywhere near a legitimate buddhist institution.

Nobody earns the title of Buddhist. If Buddhism helps him overcome his ignorance(which all people have on some level, except for buddhas), then good for him.

This guy is right.

Sean, I understand where you're coming from, and yes, i do do that. However, I'm going to improve myself through the teachings of Buddha.

Even if he's doing it for what you see as the wrong reasons, his reasons are as justified to him as yours are to you - so saying he's an idiot is like me saying "you're an idiot for your faith and how you came to it". You see, it's a stupid condition.

Religion is the opiate of the masses - Karl Marx....meaning it keeps you fucktards in line.

I am agnostic, though I will have a minor in religion/philosophy soon....I have studied buddhism extensively, it has a lot fewer flaws than western religion. Though like all religions, it is based on the faith that its tenets are correct. but its one of hte few religions I will not mock, unlike most christian denominations and muslim.

Wait. You're a buddhist, right? If so, why are you posting on totse and saying stuff like this, calling people idiots?
