Many Christian and other religious groups say the game "Dungeons & Dragons" is evil or they call it "Satan's Game". They believed it to be so evil that people all around the world that play this game either kill each other or themselves.

In your ideal, do you think the game Dungeons & Dragons is evil or Satan's game? Post your comments on the matter. Try to make it logical, all comments like 'stfu' and other internet slang will be ignored. (Looking for a serious opinion.)

Empirical evidence would suggest that since no measurable harm comes from playing D&D, its position as a tool of satan is irrelevant.

But to answer your question: Assuming Satan exists, I would probably say no it isn't.

of course it isn't satanic, evil nor will it lead you into black magic.

D&D can be kind of a gateway thing. I could probably give all the fantasy novels I've read some credit for my atheism. When you spend so much time thinking about worlds where completely different pantheons are real, it's much easier to consider that the fact you're always been told God exists isn't correct.

I love actually showing the players handbook to religious people, and asking them to show me where it tells me how to cast spells. Because it doesn't, and it's utter bullshit to claim it does. And I've never heard of an example of D&D induced violence that held any weight. Most of the towns given don't exist, and the couple actual situations were more the case of someone who killed themselves who happened to play D&D. And if 2-3 out of that list of about 20 is the best anti-D&D people can come up with, then clearly D&D is beneficial to people with suicidal or homocidal tendencies. If only three people who played D&D have killed themselves in 30 years, then maybe they should look at their own numbers.

There have been at least two suicides atributed to Everquest and it has only been out for a few years. I don't know how many murders or suicides are atributed to D&D but people have been playing it for 30 years and probably in fewer numbers.

No, D&D is not a tool of satan, although I hear that Satans "tool" is a Vorpal Greatsword +5.

The same has been said of The Ouiji Board, but considering both are man made and considering that Satan is a completely fictional character created after[/b] Christianity as a [i]symbol representing "the shades" (witches, succubi, vampires) which don't have anything to do with the bible... well, considering all of that, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

About this Satan guy people blame evrything on. From what I have heard people say here that story about an angel falling from heaven is not in the Bible, I have not read the whole Bible so don't bitch at me if I am wrong. Where did it come from, the Gnostic texts or some of the other books that "Christians" don't use but Catholics and Orthodoxes do?

I believe both of those were in Korea, cause their gamers are fucking crazy. (My hero's). They also have at least one mass murder attributed to a MMORPG.

I know at least one American has killed himself over Everquest. I have heard about a Korean guy shooting someone in a cyber cafe over CounterStrike. I think someone has had died in a housefire started by their friend who was pissed off about Starcraft.
