satanism is all about self indulgence and self perserence. the satanic bible is really interesting and written by anton lavey, even if he does in some parts go on ranting about certain subjects for pages at a time in a single sentence. It is interesting but not very realistic, it is too involved for most people. there are even chants you are supposed to say when you beat off.

there are different kinds of satanism. If you're going for the killing goats and murdering people one, forget it, it's not real except amongst those wackjob serial killers looking to get off on insanity. There's LaVeyan satanism, which doesn't see satan as a god, but as a force and that humans are the only gods, learn about that on www.churchofsatan.com (http://www.churchofsatan.com)

Then there's spiritual satanism, that is a henotheistic religion, believing that there are many gods, but worshipping only one, satan, and in that one satan is just a name of many that he has, such as ea, enki, and ptah. To the point: start by reading A History Of Satanism by Josef McCabe. He's the most solid and most neutral expert on the matter I've come across. He was actually a priest who left the church after becoming Athiest.

It's interesting stuff.

After you read the history of how Satanism came to be, then you can go on to reading about Satanist practices. Because, you really have to understand that Satanism is an entirely fabricated religion. I mean, completely manmade and has absolutely no basis in the divine.
