View Full Version : Why do people NEED to have thier religions be organized?

WTF is the point? I would have no problem with any religions if people simply minded thier business. How will God look down upon you if you don't feel like you have the need to constantly go to masses or religous meetings. Why can't peopel just keep religion to themselves in the privacy of thier own homes?

I think Christ would've preferred the christian church to be more about fellowship in houses. During his life, he was all about just traveling around with his followers and basically kicking it and spreading the word. He seemed to have a low tolerance for the established clergy.

For starters... Remember the Sabath Day, and keep it Holy.

We'll most religions require spiritual leaders to ensure that everything goes correctly. It would be easier if people congregated to the leader instead of the leader visiting all the people in his area to make sure they're doing everything right. A church is just a centralized area where people can worship under the guidance of a leader.

It seems alot of people go for the social aspect, and what napoleon said. Personally I think it can be a bad thing as leaders can inject their own ideas and such into it and thus we get some fanatical followers/ideology.

I think the more important question is why do you care how people spend their sunday mornings?
Why do you want to force your lifestyle views on them?
This theory is in "Dogma". I personal somewhat believe the same. Dogma's theory is "Don't have a belief, just ideas."

....And them going to worship intrudes on your business how?
What purpose would the love of christ have if you didn't share in it with others?

Im not sure how it intrudes on his business, but im sure its in something of the same manner that sees some religous people making it their business for you to attend their church.
My problem with the establishment of churches and clergy is whats done with them - do you believe that their main agenda is to share the love of christ/allah/tiki-toki/god?
Im fairly confident that alot of the churches and clergies are devoted to sharing that love, but is the purpose of the love of tiki toki to share it with others?
I dont believe in a god so much as i believe in philosphies of better living - many of which came from the church, others which havent. I think the best religons have a partially dynamic nature (buddism) because not only does that dynamic nature make it easier to accept and believe - it makes it alot easier for people to learn from their own lives.
Religon should have an application to peoples lives, most people are turned off by religon because of the rigid picture it presents - if the church existed as i think jesus would of wanted it, itd be based around giant parties where people could LOVE their lives, LOVE the gift of life and LOVE their neighbours.
Put the church in one place and bad neighbours can move in next door, make it a party and its whereever theres a free house.

organization is what turned me off of christianity.
I think people need the organization because
they need to have the high and mighty feeling they get from converting others. they need to feel like they're going to get a reward too.

It should be like in the end of "Luther" where they were having church outside or something.

I don't think they do. That's why so many people are "spiritual" but not "religious".
Duh.

90% of people that call themselves "spiritual" are just trying to sound interesting so they have a better shot at getting laid.

Aye, that he did. Churches collaborating with banks! And the last thing he'd want to see when he comes back is a giant cross.

No the last thing he would want to see is you worshipping him over or at the same level as G-d. The last thing he would want to see would be the complete destruction of christianity's Jewish origins. The last thing he would want to see is the changing of the Sabbath to a sunday. The last thing he would want to see are offering boxes passed around the building. Basically the last thing he would want to see is Christianity, because they have done more than anyone else to destory his teachings.

They do it because they've come up with their own beliefs, and calling themselves spiritual is easier than giving lengthy explanations to every dumbass who thinks they're trying to sound interesting so they have a better shot at getting laid (and isn't even interested in the real explanation anyway).
Back to the topic, it's not necessary to go to church for your weekly lecture in order to share divine love. Neither is it necessary to advertise the fact that you're doing it for Jesus. People who do sound like a commercial. "This cold coffee and stale donut has been brought to you by...CHRIST, and Lutheran bankers."
Just fucking DO IT, god will appreciate it more than any advertisement. All that other shit is superfluous.

People like to be part of a crowd (think high-school, goths, jocks, nerds) and some people need an authority figure to tell them what to do. Then theres the whole not wanting to die deal, can anyone name a religion where there isnt some form of life after death, and im not talking about some stupid ass cult which was made a year ago and has 4 members.
