Well i can't imagine anything more rude than going to a family's house an uprooting their faith. Then again, if they come asking for it, i guess you're just defending yourself ;-).

First of all, you could talk about Joseph Smith's many false prophecies. Like this one:

quote:. . .I prophesy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left . . .

(History of the Church, Vol. 5, p. 394.)

Or you could talk about JS's false translation abilities:

http://www.carm.org/lds/ldspapyri.htm

You see, JS called himself a "Seer", meaning that he could translate unreadable languages. He used this ability to translate the Book of Mormon from Golden Plates (which no longer exist). He also retranslated the bible this way. But he also translated some other things. One of which we are now able to translate independently. And guess what: The Translations Don't Match!.

Its all in that link. I suggest you print it out and take it with you.

Your arguments will no doubt fall on deaf ears, liero, since when is religion ever about accurate facts? They've already chosen the Mormon faith as their "One True Faith", and nothing, even direct evidence that they are wrong, will change their minds. They've got to realize the flaws themselves.

Well Im writing a 12 page paper on them right now.

I dont feel like getting any of my research out right now even though Im not dissproving them. But Joseph Smith fits the scriptures of the false prophet, he is the wolf in sheeps clothing. The Scriptures say that the false prophet will be killed early, as he was. Another was if his prophecys didnt come true. The are countless from Joseph Smith, the man who said Zion was to be built in Missouri.

The Mormons are a truly American religion and are very interesting. I think the episode of South Park summed them up nicely.

... and all other religions are based on facts?

Dreams seem to be a good enough basis for a religion than anything else.

That's what makes the whole science of them so interesting. All it takes is faith and fuck all that logic bullshit.

Logic is for pussies.

Cheers,
