What you perceive as insanity is considered conviction and higher truth to others.

In America, we all agree that the Indiana Jones movies are fantastic. We are convinced of it, and therefor convicted.

That's just a silly movie...you are talking about PEOPLE who were raised to believe that what they are doing is the will of God.

If they did not have such powerful conviction about it, they would be considered pathetic.

I commend them for their dedication, however insane their religion may be.

If Christians were as dedicated as Muslims were, all of mankind would be going to heaven, instead of just a few.

Ok, you posted like a few days back and i see some flaws in what you say. For the record I have no faith in god or a higher being.

Let me start with my first example. You said muslims are brought up to belive in there god. Therefore convinced of it and convicted of it. I could say the same thing about your god. What makes you think you are right and not them or buddist or any other religion. .Could it all not be bullshit??? Please explain this to me. How can you say one religion is wrong or insane when you blindly follow another?

First of all, learn to use the quote tag.

Second, categorizing DS' faith as "blind" is asking for a verbal beating.

In Islamic tradition, it is believed that God sent around 124,000 Prophets or Messengers to guide people back to God and to instruct them in good conduct, so it wouldn't be correct to say one is true while all others are completely false. If there is one God, and this God created all that exists, then naturally it would be one Message for mankind that is consistent with itself in it's core essence.

Then again, if you are looking for a Christian explanation of it.. I'll show myself to the non-existent door.

I know you are directing this toward Digital.

Forgive me for interupting.

(And Digi, forgive me, if it seems as though i may be "stepping on your toes".

And what do you have blind faith in? That there is no God? Because the only way to know for certain that there is no God, would be if you have searched the whole universe and all possible dimensions. And if you were capable of doing that, then you, yourself, would be a God.

The closest way of me knowing whether Digital's faith is blind or not, is from what i've learned of her in TOTSE. And from that, her faith is not blind.

As for me, my faith is not blind either. Sometimes, I wish it were. But it's too late for that.

I may take a beating on this one from fellow Christians, but here goes...

The muslim's claim the same God as the Jews and the Christians. Muslims believe that they are decendants of Abraham. The same Abraham of the Jews.

I'm not going to delete this. Obviously this is a valid thread. However, I want to make the statement, here that you should refrain from using members names in titles.

If you have something to say specifically to Digital Savior, e-mail her.

Cheers,

Good, then the revolucion will not be necessary.

Viva la' Revolucion ! Or some such junk...

Thanks for exhibiting your "omnipotent" power as Moderator of this forum, by not deleting this thread, Lost. *grins*

I want to ask why others should refrain from directly writing threads to other posters. What sort of Totse transgression is this ?

--------------------------------------------

To the original poster: while I will answer your question as fairly as you presented it, I must point out that you did not understand what I had said.

I will explain in detail tomorrow, but I wanted you to think about that before I do.

I am so often misunderstood here on Totse...and here I thought I was quite adept at my usage of the English language. *lol*

And I'm being a tart, so I'll stop.

Xtreem - You are too polite, my friend. Your wife is a lucky lady. Intervene whenever you wish. I have seen little (if any) difference in our faith. I am honored that you feel similar enough in your beliefs to assist in conveying mine.

Ummm....I think that's everyone.

Adieu.

Nothing more than forum etiquete(sp), Digi.

I realize this is &Totse and I understand the general milieu. But, this is my forum.

*strikes a pose*

It's my opinion that if it is an open forum than it should not be for one particular member. I consider myself a good mod and I if anyone has any complaints or just disagreements I like to make myself completely open to them. But, I am still mod and I still have my opinion.

Cheers,

Just a small point, but not all muslims are descendants of Abraham, ..some of them may be, but most are not. Any person can convert to Islam, and not necessarily be an arab or from the lineage of Abraham. You may have misunderstood a common phrase of Abraham being referred to as the "father of monotheism", or as they say "Abrahamaic faiths".

Anyway, muslims believe in one God, and that He sent revelation to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, among other Prophets.. so in that sense, Islam unifies the religions.

By waging war against them? Okay okay...corruption and such, but still, how fucking blind do people have to be?

No complaints.

Except I wanna mod this biotch here too. I never delve deep enough into the arguments (aka discussions) here to be polarized to one side or the other, I always tend to play devils advocate. I think I'd make a good mod.

But alas, those who ask are those who usually never get it.

Anyway, mad props LC-dollar sign.

Rather than assume what you mean about people being blind, and it's connection to Islam as a religion, I'd like to ask for some clarification.

I realize that not all of muslim history has been spotless and pure, but I don't believe it would be wise to dismiss it's good points with a blanket statement.

If it's something about the religion itself that you are commenting on, it may be better to analyze the faith based on it's sources such as it's authentic scripture (i.e. the Quran).

People of all religions have always waged war. War has been pretty constant in human affairs. And war is brutal, it's actors often cruel.

The actions of members of a faith doesn't say anything about the faith itself. Otherwise we could find lots of examples to condemn any of them.

You don't need martyrs when you have air superiority.

Religion is just another way to differentiate the enemy from "us". The enemy talks different, wears strange clothes, calls god by another name, different moral code, skin color... it all just reinforces our tribal sentiment.
