God is not real, jesus never did all this stuff everyone belives, the bible is a early billboard for non-christians. heaven is not real. hell is something someone smart made up so that they could instill fear in people and make them belive and follow there ways. religion is something to keep people occupied and to keep people from realizing how shitty their lives are so that they dont commit suicide. people made up hell so that people who want to commit suicied dont actually do it because of the fear or burning in hell for all eiternity. A LOVING AND FORGINVING GOD WOULDNT LET YOU BURN IN HER FOR ALL ETERNITY, and if God is actually really hes a jackass who loves to see people suffer. GOD IS SADISTIC (IF GOD TRULY EXISTS)

the whole religion thing in my opinion is stupid people should just live off morality not what some old guys think is right.
And what is this fantastic trump card of morality you hold in your hands?
this type of thread is getting old. and i haven't been on this site very long.

Actually, god is NOT like Santa Claus. God does not make a list of who is naughty and nice, nor does he/she/it/them/whatever offer rewards or punishments.
God loves and creates.

Morality is relative.

Every day I am amazed by people who refuse to believe in something, what I call, God. How can people actually believe their entire life is just because of some big bang, billions of years ago? Just look at nature, or your own body. Everything is right! From the joints in knees and arms, to the smallest of nerves at the tips of your toes, it has not been created by coincidence!
Look at it like this. Someone is taking a walk and sees some wood and bricks lying around somewhere. When he walks by that place the next day, he sees a house.
The atheist(or evolutionist) would think something hardly explainable, like a big explosion, happenned that night, causing all the wood, bricks, and other building materials to suddenly form a house.
The Christian(Jew, Muslim, whatever) believes there must've been a carpenter and a mason, who built this house.
All I'm trying to say is that not believing in God(or whatever tickles your fancy) is just foolish. If you'd just take a look around, and really tried to see, there is no way of denying it! It's impossible that there isn't something, someone.
How can this be hard to believe for you?

Well what about this? The big bang was huge. It created the universe which is never ending meaning possibilities of what it contains are never ending. So ever few trillion zillion million miles or so, there is a planet that somehow happened to turn into a funtional society.

Chainsaw, that was a thing of beauty. I couldn't have said it better myself. It was straight to the point - simple enough for these two dipshits to understand, yet complex enough to capture a great overview of the concept: the universe is infinite, surely there is a chance for these 'highly improbable' events to happen.

Pfftt...you could've made it simpler still.

How could something infinite in size explode out of nothing? Where did this 'infinite' universe come from? How can nothing turn into something?

I think people don't want to believe in a god because they don't like to be dependent of someone, something. They like to think they're in control of their own life.
Having a responsibillity to a greater being won't fit in their world.

I've seen no evidence to support the idea of us not being in control of ourselves. Also, in a universal sense, we are dependent on a plethora of people and things, so why not place our compassion and all other constructive emotions on what was mentioned earlier instead of on some imagined deity?

Ironic that you accuse atheists of using "hardly explainable" logic when it is the theists themselves that admit their own inability to comprehend the workings of God. Why do you think there are still questions such as "If God is all-powerful, why does he not end suffering?", "If we are given free will, why are we punished for following our own paths?", or "Why does God kill kittens?".
"Everything is right! From the joints in knees and arms, to the smallest of nerves at the tips of your toes, it has not been created by coincidence!"
You know, I saw an interesting show a few years ago. It presented this girl with abnormally shaped knuckles, fingers, and very strong tendons in her hands. She is extremely good at mountain climbing with her freakishly powerful grip. She can even do a pull-up while using only one finger at a time. Naturally, the interviewers wanted to know why, so they asked about her past. (I may not be completely accurate at this point, going from memory).
Turns out that she was raised in a fairly secluded area; tropical if I remember correctly. Anyway, she had a pet monkey that she used to play with as she was growing up (I know some of you are giggling, just shutup). She learned to climb trees at a very young age, and became extremely skilled at it.
Now, since this new skill had arisen in her youth, while her bones were still developing, her bone structure was altered to accomodate her constant tree climbing activities. Hence, the incredibly powerful hands and bizarre bone structure.
If this doesn't support the theory of evolution, I don't know what will. Her hands are different from any other human's, simply because she was raised in a different environment, undergoing different activities. Was she born this way? Did "God" make her this way? No. This alteration came about solely from adapting to her environment.
/end of rambling.
"I think people don't want to believe in a god because they don't like to be dependent of someone, something."
Or maybe it's from the complete and utter lack of any type of evidence.
"They like to think they're in control of their own life."
So you'd rather be a puppet? Wow. That's pretty sad.
"Having a responsibillity to a greater being won't fit in their world."
You're right. Having a responsibility to a being that has shown no influence in my life just doesn't seem to fit in. Imagine that.
