Okie dokey,

well i searched for this subject through this forum already, so don't whore me as if this had been asked numerous times, but I think it's a pretty interesting topic.

Basically me and a guy at work were talking about capital punishment, and more so that administered by the state, and about what the bible has to say about it.

It's my opinion that capital punishment is wrong period.

among other reasons, most having nothing to do with religion,

The bible said 'thou thalt not kill', period, there weren't exceptions.

Then he told me that there were versus in the bible that did justify these things. Told me specifically to look into matthew.

something about live by the sword, die by the sword, or maybe that was a different verse. (I haven't looked)

Now i'm not talking about going to war, or defending yourself, but i'm talking about a state sponsored death penalty. Is it ever justified?

Opinions, verses?
