Just an idea...could meaningful discussion, rather than argument take place on here? Here's how I envision this happening; You would post an idea and another person would explain in what way they agree with this idea, and then they would explain in what way they disagree with the idea, or just a different point of view they have that you didn't touch on. Then this process could be continued in the same fashion, until upbuilding dialogue has occurred. This would avoid the situation of people trying to come up with the "right" answer. Or do you all think there are right answers to be found? I can't think of any that have ever been found to date in the history of man.

It would also help if extensive quoting was disallowed. I don't just mean quoting a previous speaker's entire post, which is annoying and usually unnecessary. I also mean quoting from one's own favourite 'holy book' in order to make a point instead of using your own words, thus truly showing what you understand or believe.

It would make the discussions a lot more 'real' and a lot less boring.

On quoting "holy books", some people are incapable of making an argument without a crutch. It would be like taking "smoke and mirrors" away from an illusionist, there would be nothing left.
