Recently I've been apologizing to some of my friends for attacking the body of their religion.
I need to clarify: I will still seek clarification on what I see as flaws in religions, I still don't really buy into any religion, and I'll definitely attack actions against my moral code when the catalyst for those actions was religion.
What I mean is, for the greater part of my life I've been attacking certain religious convictions on the premise that they are less valid than what I believe. To tell the truth, our debate topic led me to realize that I'm the equivalent of a neutral observer, and it's a moot point to call any point of view worse than (or better than) mine.
Since I'm neutral, I'm nothing, and everyone is simultaneously worse off and better off than I am.
To conclude: I don't apologize for debating the intrinsics of religion and the bastardization of religion by people, but I do apologize for what basically amount to ad hominem attacks on people of a certain religious background. Sorry.
PS - This is prompted by the vast amount of Christian-bashing I have to hear, and which I patently disagree with most of the time. With the few notable exceptions above, it's just uncalled for and useless.
