IM a greek orthodox church follower, my religon doesnt follow the pope, we have an Archbishop. OK sorry for getting off track, but heres the question, if god loves you why must you fear him? Id appreciate no flames, but if you must, go ahead

I am not catholic, but one definition of the word 'fear' means reverential awe, esp. toward God.
And if you are not saved...well...maybe 'fear', meaning 'dread' might be too weak of a word.

You are sadly, sadly mistaken about Roman Catholacism vazilizatisev.
It's especially funny coming from a member of a church that has even more pomp and process than the RCC.

You guys went to a different catholic church then i did. The Priest and nuns were horrible. All they did was scare us. It's not a religion about fear but they use it whether they mean to or not.
Fear is the easiest way to control people and thats waht they are doing.

I went to a Catholic school for 10.5 years.
The fear you are talking about isn't the fear he was talking about. They don't instill a fear of eternal punishment, they are socially strict though.
