Actually, if I were the devil (knowing that my fate was sealed), I would convince everyone that I didn't exist by saturating every stimulii that mankind experiences.

Basically, I'd do what he did. (might as well be good at what you do, even if it is evil)

Instead of scheming to get souls, I’d simply sit back and let society’s crumbling moral structure bring me all the sinner’s I could ever need.

Digi, there's a couple passages in the bible where lucifer and god kick it. I don't remember if it specifies where, but I imagine god wasn't hanging out in hell.

I think she means that God and Satan seem to hang out regularly, as is indicated by passages such as Job, which probably means Satan hangs out with God in Heaven.

Really good is not a phrase that applies, in my opinion, Tyrant.

I only say that because it is a political documentary of sorts.

But it is valuable, and noteworthy, if you are interested in both sides of any given coin.

And I agree with you...such greed and gluttony is deplorable, no matter the source.

I do not, however, agree that Bush is responsible for such things. It was happening long before he was a twinkle in the Bush Family Empire's eye.

That is not to say he is not a player in that wretched game, but I truly believe he has done his best, and overcome some pretty formidable walls (to withstand such scrutiny and ridicule for 4 years, and then offer yourself up as a sacrifice to do it all over AGAIN is commendable [or arrogant; take your pick], in my opinion.)

There are many things that the American public do not know about him (common knowledge type of things), but this thread was not created for the purpose of debating the liberal media.

Suffice it to say that none of us are perfect, we are all selfish in different ways, and I in NO WAY envy his position as Commander In Chief of a country that can't decide what it wants, and detest's the air that he breathes.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that is probably not "new", but it is new to me. I think it drives my point home:

"Well-behaved women rarely make history."

Or something to that effect. Obviously, Bush is not a woman, but going against the grain, and sticking to your guns, is something that is abhorred during conception, but is praised after time and fruition.

There is one reference when Satan goes back up to Heaven to talk to God after he has been barred for eternity, but it was just to talk.

If you all would like the verses, I will find them.

He is most definitely not "kickin' it" up there...his domain is the earth now. And after judgement, off to Hell.

hmmm... that reminds me of something.

I remember reading that some earlier churches actually did pray for the redemption of the devil or something.

I guess since according to Christianity(according to some), god doesn't actually forgive in the human sense, rather required Christs sacrifice, maybe its impossible, if Christ only died for humans.

I never got that though - why didnt satan just sorta beg for forgiveness. :S

If I were the devil, I'd rally all the sinners, and make hell the more desirable of the two areas. Then, the "good" people in heaven would look down and think, "damn I thought I was going to be rewarded." In other words the devil wouldn't punish his followers, it's probably a big party down there. It's not like the devil works for god, doesn't hate him, think he's better, so logically he'd make hell kick more ass than heaven to spite god's will.

I'm sure it is.

Satan/Lucifer are not the Devil's God-given names. The closest we have is the Hebrew title Heleyl Ben-Shachar, which means "the brilliant one, Son of the Morning."

To contrast what you said (that Satan and God are buddies), I will tell you what Christians believe, based on scripture:

Revelation 12:7 - "And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."

Obviously, the dragon is Satan, and he most definitely rebelled against God here. God handed him his bags, and forced him to live outside of His presence.

Doesn’t seem like something God would do, if He were “friends” with Lucifer.

Ezekiel 28:12-14: Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: "You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, carnelian, topaz, and jasper, chrysolite, beryl, and onyx, sapphire, carbuncle, and emerald; and wrought in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. With an anointed guardian cherub I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you."

God was happy with Lucifer at some point, and that changed.

1 John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

He was the first sinner. God went out of His way to “destroy the works of the devil”.

Luke 10:17 - And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

This shows a change in the relationship between God/Angels. Lucifer and his legion of rebellious angels fell out of favor with God. The "fall of Satan" doesn't refer to any particular change of residence, but is a symbolic way of saying that he is being humbled and defeated by the actions of the apostles. This fits with Old Testament language regarding the fall of nations and kings.

Colossians 2:14-15 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Jesus defeated Satan and all spiritual forces of evil at the cross.

Revelation 12:11 - And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The testimony and work of Christians is helping to defeat Satan.

Revelation 20:10 - And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever

Satan will finally be defeated and his destiny is in the lake of fire.

Revelation 12:17 - Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring–those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Satan and his demons currently wage war against God’s kingdom.

Matthew 25:41 - Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'

God made Hell especially for Satan, and his minions. What a good friend !

Lucifer "the light bringer"

was Venus, the planet, the

"morning star". It has been

referred to as a sentient god in

some ancient traditions.

That is the lucifer mentioned in the

bible, not satan the fallen angel.

Of course, christianity has turned

many old gods of nature into the

You are basing that viewpoint on the inerrant word of God, right ?

If not, there is nothing to support your ideas.

The Bible is the ONLY proof we have of what happened, how it happened, and why it happened (or will happen).

That's all true, but I assumed you were talking from a christian perspective. And the christian perspective is that Satan is the devil (a characatuer(sp) of Lucifer) whose mission is to prove to God that humans are not worthy of ruling over the angels.

Since, I don't believe in any of that, it really doesn't matter to me. But, that's Christianity.
