...from a simple person.

The rule for this religion is that there can be only one rule, or commandment, if you like.

Any guesses as to what that rule would be?

After all, why would a competent God need more than one rule?

"Do unto others as you wish them to do unto you"

You may be thinking of Antinomianism, in which the only rule is "there are no rules."

Are you saying this rule is sufficient to be a (the) complete (un)religion?

Is this your religion?

Not familiar with this Antinomianism. But if "there are no rules" then what is there? Any belief at all?

The meaning of life is there is no meaning of life.

George Carlin did a bit where he narrowed the 10 Commandments down to 3 Commandments.

It was funny because it actually made a lot of sense.

It's a defunct sect of Christianity which believes that all souls are saved by the Grace of God without exception, rendering the concept of sin null.

Carlin used to be funny. Now he is just bitter.

Really, I meant this as a serious question. Don't you think if there is a God that he would only need one rule, or that he could say one thing, if he wanted to, that would make all things clear? Why would he need rule books, with lots of rules that tell you how to live your life?

Of even if you think there is no God, does that imply a certain rule or understanding or way of looking at what is here?

That's why I don't consider the bible the "book of God." I think it was and still is a way to scare people into living the way society wants them to, without individuals knowing that they are being forced into believing it.

I think there are very few rules we need to live our lives.

Live and let live.

Love and be loved.

Don't let jealousy blind you.

Simple rehearsed somnambulistic drivel intended to justify a perceived existence reduced to itself.

The one rule is Imperium Est Recta.

History proves this.

My theory is that if you have more than one rule, then you will have endless rules. You have to limit yourself to one or else you have no basis to limit or exclude any others.

What does that tell you, except everyone is saved? It even renders living null.

My only rules are:

Do things which are considered in my own best LONG-TERM happiness. i.e. avoiding instant gratifications - Sex, hard drugs, quitting.

You only live once, do some stupid shit while you're alive.

Wherever possible, yes one should avoid killing or any type of violence as that would infringe on anothers right to live.

"Wherever possible"...So your rule breaks down sometimes? So can this be the one rule you would have. Or is more than one rule necessary? How many?

Which is it; avoid stupid shit or do some stupid shit?
