I was sitting at my computer...surfing totse, you know the usual. This girl instant messaged me," hey who is this?" We began talking, mostly her demanding to know who I am, and how she got my screenname. I sent her a link to this bible thing. I asked her if she was a Christian...and...It hurts my head...the conversation which came after. The STUPIDEST thing I have EVER SEEN...I said I am not a Christian. She said something about how she came to beleive in God, I said "What? I beleive in God...I'm just not a Christian. She said "how do you mean, if you beleive in god doesn't that automaticaly make you a christian?"

That wouldn't be uncommon around here in the Bible Belt. Everyone around here just assumes when you say, "I believe in God", you mean the Christian god.

This girl is either narrow minded or ignorent. Islam has one god, as does judaism. And then there are those who harbor their own belifes.
Some people seriously need to be educated

^^^^^ Yep, same god, different prophet. All originated from the same religion
Hell. I believe in one God-like being for lack of a better word, but I'm not a christian either.
At my school (this is very suprising) they started teaching a "Comparative Religions" class.
This class was amazing. We actually have a teacher in our conservative little town, that teaches open views on all major religions of the world including Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, Seikism, Jainism, and even the "Other" minor religions. It was a real eye opener.
The Point:
I doubt she ever took that class, and it should be required to graduate.

I can most certainly relate. There are a lot of backward people where I live who think that listening to anything other than gospel music is a sin. It's actually rather annoying. I wear black a lot and because of that people automaticaly assume that I am some kind of devil worshipper "goth" or something. Just the other day some redneck asked me if I believed in god and when I said yes he started giving me this big speech about how I was going to hell and such. Funny thing is the same redneck gives everyone around him a hard time and treats me like shit...fuckin' hypocrite.

People do religion to much for show.
