Well, alright lent is here once again. Dont know if there are ant other catholics here or if you even do this but if there are anyone for a challenge. I usually fail and for that reason Im going to take it serious this year. In case no one knows what lent is you give up something you really like for 40 days and nights. No eating meat on Fridays either. Really only supposed to have 1 meal a day. Im giving up alcohol yes thats right and no sexual activity for 40 days and nights. This will be hard as hell. Day 1 today anyone else doing anything?

While you are 'fasting', I would suggest some inner reflection, and to understand why you are doing what you do. Make your intention clean, and pure, then affirm it yourself, and stay true to it. God willing, when you have completed it, affirm to yourself, preferably vocally, "I have completed my intention for the sake of God". It will help you in other times.

Don't just give something up for the sake of giving it up, or because someone told you.. try to understand why.. and the purpose behind it. To give you a slight glimpse, realize that the tree where the fruit grows, is in your heart.. not in your outer actions. Dwell inside your heart... and renounce this material world. Let go of it. Don't cling to it like you cannot live without it. In your heart's poverty, you will begin to see the world and all its pleasures and conveniences as a blessing and a gift which you should be grateful for in your heart. Remember God often, for hearts find rest in God's remembrance.

I am not being critical when I say that I don't need a specific part of the year to tell me that I ought to be obeying God's commandments, taking care of my "temple" (A.K.A. body), and refraining from sin.

I am tasked with that burden EVERYDAY of my life, friend.

I think it's great that you're trying though. I would suggest that you try and see it as a "life plan", instead of a "40 day plan".

Whatever the truth may be of that reality, I don't think it is right to belittle the good intentions of others. Afterall, it is not the outer accomplishments which are of any value, but the condition of one's heart, and the effort we put in, in accordance with our capacity.

Everything we could ever come up with is like, bringing spices to the Orient.

One of the things which we could give back to God that is of real value, is a clean heart, and sincerity. The world and it's riches will fade like dust, in the presence of the heart which reflects God's beauty and divine qualities.

Your theory is bullshit a generalisation doesnt fall apart because a minority dont follow the general rule think about it before you try post some deep and bullshit theory.

The day i meet a group of muslims where i don't hear any of them complaining about how hard it is then i will be wrong but it wont happen so my claim is pretty much safe because my generalisation will be true the majority will bitch only a few will say its good or not bitch.

I used to go to school in Bradford (England) which is also known as Bradistan. It is muslim capital. They do bitch about not eating for 9 hours and do stuff their faces in the mid parts.
