why do perfectly smart, reasonable indiviuals in religion think homosexeuality is so wrong and evil?

what makes them hate it so much?

why?

and where does it say in the bible that homosexeuality is wrong?

if anyone could answer these it would give me a better idea of what the shit is going through some peoples minds.

Leviticus, the same place it says to stone someone for growing two kinds of crops in the same field or wearing clothes of two different materials. It's also where Jehovah's witnesses get their prohibition against blood transfusions (they equate it with canibalism)

aparently it does not help the human race in any way, and is done soley for pleasure which is greedy.

what i dont understand is why this is a sin, and doing something like riding a bike isnt. riding a bike by yourself is done soley for self pleasure and doesnt help anyone else in any way.

i asked someone on this forum twice about this and never got an answer come to think of it..

New Testament (Romans 1:26-27):

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. -If you're going to make such a broad generalization as that comment than please get the facts correct. Most modern Christians go by both the Old and New Testaments.

They hate because they want to. Some of them use the preachings in Levithicus as an excuse. However, the preachings in levithicus aren't against homosexuallity, they're against SODOMY.

The imbeciles whom use levithicus as an excuse fail to admit and/or realize is that it COMPLETELY EXCLUDES the act of women having sex with women as a sin.

Which thusly, proves that the comdemnations aren't towards homosexual activity, it's truly against FORCED man on man sex acts.

It was common belief, all the way up until modern times that it is and always have been MEN whom commit sodomistic acts, not women. This judgement came about when men loudering outside of Lot's house told lot to give passage to them so that they may 'know', the attractive men in his house.

Lot resists and instead tried to plead with the men to instead rape his duaghters. Unbeknownst to the louderers, the men in Lot's home where angels. God, being inraged about the incident, tells Lot to take what he needs and flee the city with whomever he wannts save those men who planned to rape His angels.

God planned to destroy the whole damned city, not just those who commit sodomistic acts. He wanted them to not only feel His anger, he wanted them to know, along with the rest of the world that it was His wrath that brought them down.

In other stories in the bible, you get this fool, Jesus, telling his disciples that men should KISS. And also, in stories omitted from the bible by Kings and other politicles powers, there have been stories that hint at the fact that Jesus was bisexual. There's a story in which the angry Peter says to another disciple, "Surely Jesus can't love a woman the way he loves us..." (Rought translation).

Catholics are not against homosexuals, they're against sodomy.

However, I am not one to judge, since God says that no one sin is greater than another (except for the rejection of Him), so if I covet, or lie I am no better than if I were committing homosexual acts (and vice versa).

That is definitely one thing I don't like about religion: people tend to get high and mighty once they consider themselves to be at a certain level of achievement in their own spiritual walk.

I am talking all religions here, not just mine, and not just yours (whatever it may happen to be).

The best thing to do is be like Paul...he was a wretched, awful man (the worst you can imagine), and then he repented and dedicated his entire life to God, disregarding his own desires and aspirations.

He saturated himself in God, and forgot about Paul, amongst the worst adversity any man has ever known.

What I wouldn't give for that kind of conviction and selflessness.

Sorry, but my reasoning for not liking homsexuality (not the actual homosexual) is very intricate and logical. It has nothing to do with bias, or bigotry.

I also see things from a spiritual perspective, and the purpose of God saying that [sodomy] and [sex outside of marriage] and [sex only being between a man and a woman] is very specific, and the affects of not obeying His commands on these subjects is blatantly obvious.

Simply because you haven't bothered to find out why we (Christians) think what we think, based on what God tells us, doesn't mean you can just chalk it all up to hatred and intolerance.

The conversation is NOT about why str8 ppl who aren't christians hate/dislike gays. It's about RELIGIOUS indivisuals. I'm sure everyone who've posted in this thread knows that there are/were ppl who aren't religious and still dislike/disapprove of gays.
