Give it up all of you. Anyone who has read A Brief History of Time is aware that Hawking proved the irrelevance of god. For should he exist, the only place in which he would be able to interfere would be a singularity (which could exist at the big bang or possibly in a black hole) where all rules of science break down and causes cease to have effects and vice versa. Should he intefere it would be irrelvant b/c all repercussions would be limited by the event horizon of a black hole (the line out which light comes too close and is trapped by the gravity of the black hole aka theres no way in hell anything's getting past it). So either god doesn't exist, or he exists at points inside black holes and his actions have no bearing on our lives.

Prove that god didn't create the big bang...

hawking didn't do away with shit. you're an idiot. he's recanted his theory as he put forth in 'a brief history', so you've got nothing until you read his updated thoughts... until then, you're just another jackass with an agenda.

Indeed. What these idiots do is sput of anti-Christian hate when its plain to see their arguments are completely flawed. As the thread starter does not take into account (and neither does Hawking) the advancement of science. Interesting that Hawking does not, perhaps he has an agenda as well?

ArgonPlasma:

Everyone has an agenda. And what makes you think he was spewing out "anti-Christian hate". He didn't mention Christianity once in his information. This theory would also denounce COUNTLESS other religions. You sympathize with Christians for getting bashed, but you start the Christian Bashing by singling them out!

read the book "Atheism - The Case Against God" by George H. Smith and you will have your reasons that god cannot exist.

Who gives a shit, do you think you're going going to change anyones beliefs? I don't think a carrots book is going to change anyones thoughts, ecspecially if they believe the bible(or any other religious text) is the word of god(or something similiar)

And don't give me shit for calling hawking a carrot, I read about 30 pages of A Brief History and I was bored to death(physics kill me)

Hawking did away with God?

Hawking's a cripple. God owned him.

Hawking is a Deist you fucktard.

He believes there is a God, then he has just left us to it.

Deists believe in A god. Usually the God of the Bible, but dont commit to any formal religion.

Diests believe that there was a god who created everything, and then left us alone. You are wrong.

Look, I didn't say that god didnt exist, or never existed. If that's what you though I said I apologize. Yes, Hawking believes there is a god but like you said Hawking thinks he started it and left us to it. My point was its irrelevant whether or not god exists. He can't impact our daily lives, that's all.

Oh, and I didn't say god didnt create the big bang. There also is a predicted singularity at that point. He probably did start the big bang, but it doesn't really matter at this point in time.

And what theory did he recant in brief history do you think I was talking about. I'll admit the only thing of Hawking's that I have read is A brief history... So that's the only information i really have on it. But please enlighten/correct me.

Yea sorry, I hadn't checked on the post since whenever I posted it way early this morning so I had a lot of accusations to refute.

It seems you all are entirely too quick to flame the guy. Maybe you need to read a little bit closer before you become a keyboard commando and much less a martyr for a lost cause.

man you have no imagination. I think what some of you don't think abou tis how monumentally power God can exist and the mistake you make is believing that you can comprehend God; you can't! He could be effecting you right now by moving around enzymes and nerves in your head making you think things. People constantly make the mistake of thinking they can comprehend God and understand his motives or purpose.

Hawking is just talking about science, he did nothing to get rid of God. I can recall him saying atleast a few times in BHOT that he believes in a higher power.

Once again, just to clarify, I know Hawking believes in a fucking god. That wasn't the point of my post, as I've stated repeatedly. Hawking's opinion, at least as I interepeted it in BHOT is that god's actions cant affect us unless were inside a singularity. So quit telling me I'm wrong because, "Hawking believes in god"

Steve Rogers
2005-03-03, 22:32
How'd you get that from BHOT? It's pretty much just science. Anyone could agrue god controls science.

lolashookitup
2005-03-04, 05:48
Fine, if god controls science, then god is predictable, therefore we know the mind of god, so what makes him a god?
