adam and eve are cast out of the garden, they have twin boys, one kills the other. where did these scores of people arise out of that? as i sit here wondering my mind falls only to thoughts of incest.

No not incest.

I just posted a topic about how the bible is completely symbolic. Adam and Eve would have to represent tribes of people that were followers of God yet their own maintained group. If you read further into the bible, Cain's (the one that killed his brother, Abel) wife suddenly apears without any mention of how she was born.

There's also the possibility that God created more people but like I said most of the bible is symbolic so therefore I would go with the tribes of people represented by one theory.

They had another son named Seth and they don't name women in the Bible unless they do something really important. The idea that humanity is the result of thousands of years of inbreeding is kind of messed up though.

I'm more inclined to believe that the Bible at its origin only dealt with a select group of people, not mentioning other scores of tribes and thus not being concerned with their geneologies.

Incest...but im very sure that A&E had daughters. No mommy poon for Seth & Cain. In fact Cain was a hobo for the rest of his life.

But realize that incest was ok back then. God had NOT said it was taboo yet. Also notice how bad off the gene pool is today. You cant risk doing your sister and not getting a retard baby. Its almost a certainty. Back then the DNA was nearly perfect, so a little incest wouldnt hurt.

And howis the Bible symbolic? Flood accounts are all over the worldin nearly ever culture. Symbolic as well? I think not.

There's a lot of question surrounding that particular story, but first of all Cain and Abel were not twins. Abel was younger. Cain killed Abel, but it's not definite that he knew what he was doing, since until then there had never been a human death. So, it's speculated that perhaps he didn't know he was going to kill him by bludgeoning him.

Also, this is after the exile from The Garden Of Eden and it's also speculated that there were other people outside the garden and that Adam and Eve had other children who weren't mentioned by name because they were "unimportant". Cain was then exiled to The Land Of Nod, which simply means he was banished to wandering forever and a mark was placed upon him. Some say this mark was one on the forehead, some say he was given horns, some say a dog to follow him.

Some people think that Cain got so lonesome he mated with the dog and his offspring were the product of a man/dog. Of course, that's impossible, scientifically speaking but I suppose they believe god changed the dog into a woman.

Adam and Eve had Seth hundreds of years later, long after Cain had built his city and just after he was killed by Lamech. I believe Cain had reproduced seven generations before Eve bore Seth.

Cheers,
