You might mean Baptists, Mormons, or Jehovah's. I don't know any preachy Catholics.

Catholics aren't the preachy ones. Catholics are actually very accepting of people whether or not they agree with their faith.

I've lapsed, but one of the things I remember is the priest always talking about how Catholics don't need to evangelize - everyone knows what Catholics are and what they (generally) believe in. "If you want it, we got it, so come and get it."
After all, once your congregation hits 1 billion, do you really have to go asking for more?

Educated Catholics usually know the Bible pretty well and can quote verses. When they point out their knowledge many people take it as an arguement rather than simply someone pointing out their beliefs.
Many Catholics are firm in their beliefs and when provided with a conflicting belief are more than willing to point out how it conflicts with what they believe, but simply pointing out differences isn't arguing. After pointing this out a proper Catholic would be accepting and tolerant, as has been stated, because they have nothing to prove anymore.
Edit: I'll admit as a unpracticing Catholic that Wiccans such as yourself annoy me. But it has nothing to do with my Catholic beliefs, it instead has to do with my dislike for attention whores and fad riders.
