I wouldn't call myself a religious man; some would call me an atheist, but I feel I just have a spiritual understanding in a more poetic sense. I don't subscribe to the notion of there being a big bearded white guy in charge up in the clouds, this topic isn't about that; well it is but it isn't, I would just rather keep this from being about the existence of the judeo-christian diety. I feel, however, that a bit of an understanding of my understanding would be helpful for the direction of this post, which is unclear to me at this point.

In the interest of progressing, I shall give a over simplified label and call myself an existentialist christian. It's a lot more complicated then that, but just to give a basic idea.

Now to the point: (if there even is one besides killing time as my hangover subsides) recently, and frequently, my dreams have revolved around religion in a variety of ways. From something as simple as my cell phone oddly turning into a glowing rectangle of religious symbolism; hell, heaven, crosses (though they looked more like medical crosses then crucifix), and so on. It would be different everytime I looked at it, and was no longer functionable as a phone, but it was always religious, and always conveyed a different emotion: Love, Fear, Hate, Sickness, etc.

I had one that depicted the decapation of Jesus Christ. Followed by a framed picture of the headless messaih surrounded by the most delapidated and morose candles (if any candles could cry, these would be the candles to do it.)

There have been a lot more, in between these sides of the spectrum from silly to scary, but these stand out the most and now it is the time for me to pose this question to you: To the devout-what do you make of this dreamtime divine intervention?

To the nonbelievers-ever have dreams as twistedly disturbed as this?

Hmm, I've never had any dreams about decapitation, I'll admit that. Though back when I was a Christian, I had a dream that I went to hell because I wasn't baptised. Hell was a row of musty jail cells where the inmates were confined for all eternity.

When interpreting dreams, you have to remember that it's your subconscious mind that's controlling them (unless you're lucid). Your subconscious uses symbolism to represent thoughts and ideas. The jail cells in my dream about hell represented my fear of confinement in hell for eternity (I'm used to thinking about life sentences, because that's what my mother has). And people had told me before that if I didn't get baptised, I would go to hell, even though I didn't believe them I still dreamed about it. It almost scared me into getting a baptism.

I am not Christian, and I am not atheist.

I also have dreams similar to yours, though not about Christianity. I've had dreams involving a Sun and a Moon god, a war of sorts where the night and day were personified. It was strange, almost like two liquid-air waves playing a game of tug-o-war with semi-formed warrior bodies attacking each other mercilessly. I wasn't actually in the dream so to speak, I was some sort of observer. I think it was a creation story I dreamt, to be honest.

I've had many dreams which have revealed various things to me in ways quite similar. Most of them have happened recently. If you are truly interested, I have a dream journal I write in which I would be glad to type out for you.

Side note: I don't claim to be a prophet of any kind, I believe these things can/do come to anyone.

Very, very perceptive dream. Many ancient cultures believed that a monster like a wolf devoured the moon every cycle, but the moon god would triumph by being resurrected. This cycle of life, death, and rebirth manifests itself in myths such as Persephone and Hades.

The closest I've gotten to dreams relating to spirituality and religous experiences are dreams of the future; they always seem to come true within the next two days and it sometimes makes me wonder whether a controller exists, or whether chance does not and I'm able to see the preceding incidents that lead to future happenings more accurately than others...fun dreams none the less...I have about 3 a week that are predictive, not one has yet to fail in accuracy.

Those dreams are pretty sweet. Especially when, while still in the dream, you realize "hey....I had a dream about this. ALL of this, even what I'm saying right now."

Then, of course, it happens.

Curious things in life, though I'd imagine the sans free will premonitinos more likely then prophetic visions.

The most recurring dream I have experienced I call "The Chess Game".

There are two opponents, and they each have pieces or possessions on a board between them. Yet, around each piece revolves a sphere of energy, desires, motives.......distractions, that make the pieces blind to the board, the opponents and the other pieces.

Istead of an opponent manually moving a piece in a predetermined pattern, he/she is moved by bait/temptation/interruption cast into the spere of the piece by the opponent. The opponents actually play each others piece instead of their own.

Very Distressing Dream, I have had it for many years.

That's interesting. What, may I ask, indicated my ownership of a vagina?
