Well, at least they've got the balls to take what most people I know who preach but don't deliver.

They used to do that in Montreal. Not sure if they still do.

That's been a common practice in lots of countries for a long time.

What the fuck is the point? The whole reason Jesus did that is so we wouldn't have to. Now people are doing it anyway.

People are fucking stupid.

It's just another way the devil has manipulated people into taking their focus off of God, by tempting them to hyper-focus on the things that aren't important.

Rememberance is important, but not replication.

Besides, what is the point, if they are not sacrificing their lives ? They are only going half way, which bears no relevance on the magnitude of Christ's sacrifice.

I admire them for their dedication, but I find it extremely misdirected.

And now people are doing this as a way to get out of punishment from their government: http://news.independent.co.uk/world/asia/story.jsp?story=623775

Even if they went all the way (died)the fact is they were imperfect and have no comparison to christ .

Nothing more than blasphemy even if they die it is suicide .

Here I am thinking those towelheads are fanatics ,just reminds me they walk on all shores of an island

Thats true, but show me where Jesus says to recreate his suffering.

As a learned baptist, i do agree that Catholicism is indeed a cult. But we say that a cult is an organized religion that does not recognize the blood atonement of Jesus' death as the only way to go to heaven. Seeing as how Catholics believe you can ask the preist to ask Mary to ask Jesus to forgive you and then live life of debauchery that Catholics are renowned for and still think they are gingto heaven, i think that about puts things in perspective.

We all live our lives in debauchery.

Catholics are no different from any other Christian, or human...for that matter.

That was pretty judgemental.

I would agree with Digital here. Catholics are Catholics. Baptists are Baptists, Mormons Mormons, etc. You get the point.

This is obviously a part of these people's religion. We can criticise it, but it wont much get us anywhere. This is their way of paying homage to Christ's suffering. For that I commend them. I wouldn't say by any means that Christ would be pleased in their suffering, but I wouldnt be so swift to say that He would be displeased by their devotion. Even if it were misguided.

Over and out,
