Seeing as most of the disciples were Jews, few of them would have been baptised before pentecost...

I think pentecost was supposed to be their spiritual baptism. Remember what John the Baptist said? "I baptize you in water, but Jesus will baptize you in fire and the holy spirit (wind)" or something like that. And so the pentecost was when Jesus baptized them spiritually.

I've read the Acts of the Apostles, and it's a lot different than what really happens in churches. Like, when you are talking in tongues everyone is supposed to be able to understand you. And there's two ways to receive the holy spirit -- one is to get it directly from God, and the other is to have somebody with it to lay their hands on you and you'll receive it. But they were supposed to be careful with who they gave the holy spirit, because it gave the person the ability to perform miracles. They could teleport and heal the sick and do all sorts of cool stuff. There are only two recorded instances where people got the holy spirit directly from God, and those two groups were of the Jewish Christians and of the Gentile Christians.

It doesn't seem like anybody has that same "holy spirit" that's talked about in Acts of the Apostles. Where are the tongues of flames and the miracles and all that? I bet those darn Cathylicks screwed it up.

Let me explain it really easily son:

The Holy Spirit doesn't exsist.

God doesn't exsist.

None of that mystical nonsense that you and all Christians believe in is true.

Catholics are still better than those damn Protestants.

Atheism > All Religions.

David Koresh...

Fuck you. I've lived among Protestants my whole life, and they're all this ignorant. If I'd have to choose between being a Catholic and being a Protestant I'd choose being a Catholic, simply because they aren't as CLOSE-MINDED, IGNORANT, OVERLY-CONSERVATIVE, AND STUPID AS PROTESTANTS.

I was just joking. I got "cathylicks" off of Landover Baptist Church. And about protestants vs. catholics, I think it really depends on the individual.

Just so ya know, I'm agnostic. I also believe in psychic powers.

I dont get what your asking. But i think your talking about what goes on at the Pentacostal churches. "Let all things be done decently and in order." (Paraphrased). This says that all that crazy ass shit they do isnt according to the Bible. So, no, youdidnt have revival. Sorry to disappoint you.

The Holy Ghost is definitley real. "My spirit dwells with you always, even until the end of the world." You don't get baptized in Jesus Christ, you're baptized in the father, son, and the Holy Ghost. Some people do speak of their gifts. There are many gifts, dreams, visions, interpretation, etc. It helps if you've been filled with the Holy Ghost as well. Read the book of Acts, it might help you.

Catholics are just as close minded as protestants, just less redneck.

Ok, take a look at every other religions trinity ==>Osirus,Issis, Horus: Odin, Thor, Frey, Brahma, Vishnu and Siva etc >==, now think about what other things come in three's, including your own personal link to this.

Assuming your not stupid answer this question "What is the stone rejected by the builders of the temple?"

Congratulations, you now understand why no-one talks about the holy spirit, and a great deal more than most people who feel the need to talk about religion http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)
