Fascinating, I understood the use of Mescaline to ancient pre-Christ religions, and the Early-Christian understanding of it, but I'd never heard Manna associatted with mushrooms.

Though I wouldnt entirely agree with his conclusions, nor would I make any conclusions myself (fact is: who really knows?) it certainly is food for thought. (Pun so very intended)

It is plausible. But Jews loved honey. And where would they get honey? And why would mushrooms litter the sand as opposed to just the shit? What nutritional benefits do mushrooms have? They would have to have ALOT of carbs since they come in small densities (dried) and have to feed a person for an entire day of journeying.

The original purpose of circumcision was as a religious rite (the first known practicioners being the Egyptians). They used to only cut off the tip end of the foreskin, so it wouldn't make much difference when it comes to hygiene.

That's because today we know the drugs cause a chemical effect on the brain. Back then, when they tried to come up with an explanation, the best they could come up with was that they were receiving visions from supernatural forces. The American Indians are a good example of this. Also, dreams were often interpreted in the same manner. There's examples all over the Bible for that.

As far as mushrooms littering sand, if you have ever seen a psylocybin mushroom drop its spores, it is a very cool purple dust, and that could have "littered" the sand.

Nutritional benefits...mushrooms are 90% water, and 10% of the nutrients of whatever the mushroom is growing on, plus the psilocybin of course.

It should be noted that the honey we have today (from bees) is not the honey they had. The honey used in that area was I think dew they had collected off of plants. It might not have been exactly that, but it wasn't bee honey.

That's a fascinating article right there. I always found it strange that manna was a food that spawned on the ground myself in the Bible stories.

Actually im saying that for an infestation so big the spore content would be extremely dense.

Even then they couldnt mix any with their manna because plants that have dew on them dont occur in such great abundance in a desert climate. So mixing the "honey" with manna isnt going to work. Plus, what difference is honey (dew) to regular water? Moses said it tasted like honey, not water.

The bible is meant to be interpreted contextually, not literally. When Moses said "it tasted like honey", he most likely meant "it tasted sweet and such". The honey they speak of was dew (or it might have been juices collected from bugs, I'm not exactly sure, but it was one of the two, if not both).
