Which do you think is the worst influence on the world, and why?

Islam: competing with Christianity for the inspiring the most violent radicals today, infamous for oppressing women. Frequently attempts to infiltrate government to increase powers of oppression. Certain denominations and religious leaders inspire suicide violence with promises of pussy in the afterlife.

Christianity (in general): Longest tradition of violence, genocide, and oppression of all religions through history. Currently responsible for oppression of gays, and highly active in attempting to influence government.

Catholicism (in specific): Largest organizer of Christians worldwide. Historically, instigated campaigns of genocide against non-christians. Currently responsible for hindering prosecution of child molesters, propogating the AIDS epidemic through campaigns against condoms and birth control, and extorting massive quantities of money ("tithes") from its followers, especially among poor classes. Historically and currently opposed to and hinders scientific progress of any kind.

Judaism: Played a part in the death of Jesus, depending on the version of the story. That's about it for a long time, as they repeatedly get the long squirty shaft from everyone else. Recently, Jewish Israel turns around and gives the same treatment to the Palestinians (who give as good as they get, of course).

Hinduism: Aside from creating another culture group for conflict with other groups, can't really think of anything bad.

Any others I've forgotten that are worth mentioning?

I'd have to say Scientology (http://www.xenu.net/), if you could even call it a religion. I remember them because SomethingAwful.com did satire on them a while back, and they threatened SA with lawsuits. It was one of the few cases SA took seriously. (the only other one I remember was when they had to take down a bunch of photoshopped (http://www.adobe.com/misc/trade.html#photoshop) images of the muppets, posted sometime after Jim Henson's death) It was funny, because they still did satire on them, but they got away with it by praising them and writing fan fiction about Scientology (http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=147).

Hinduism is more of an intertwined philosophical and theological belief system than most of the other world religions, and it's relatively tolerant of other ones because it can explain them as simply different manifestations of the one ultimate reality.

The real danger isn't so much any of the religions themselves, but the degree to which they have become political more than spiritual. It would be a pretty close race between Islam and Christianty then, although Islam by it's nature is an integration of political/social/spiritual/ethical values, Christianity on the other hand has been hijacked.

I think Jehovas(sp?) Witness is retarded. There belief is only 166,000 people can go to 'heaven'. Which is stupid because if the religion ever became 1 of the major religions, of lets say half a billion followers, only a small small portion would go to heaven. Even if the rest were perfect.

Hinduism is responsible for the caste system in addition to many wives throwing themselves on their husbands' funeral pyre. Not good.

And Judaism has caused just as much fear, pain, and hate in the world as any religion; if not more because Judaism is partially responsible for the creation of both Christianity and Islam. Any faith that accepts the idea of a wrathful, jealous, sometimes idiotic, blood-hungry God is libel for the current state of the world, IMO.

Either Catholics or Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's witnesses seem like a bunch of conmen to me. I wouldn't be surprised if they sacrificed people too.

Well we really cant help it if Jesus says that homosexuality is not to be respected. We dont oppress them, we dont hate them, we just try to curb their desires. So id say its Muslims. They start all kinds of shit all around the world. They dont like to practice their wn religion often only doing what the clerics tell them. The clerics rarely read the Koran themselves. They opt for comentaries instead.

Muslims also laud themselves as a religion of peace, when they start all the shit. They started it against the Jews (Turkey). The crusades then started. Then we had various wars around the world because they cant get along with their neighbors and factions within their religion. Then they drive planes into buildings and blowing their sissy asses up killing and maiming men, women, and children. They cant even get a good one off. Its funny when they do it in Baghdad or somewhere and they kill more muslims than american soldiers.

hinduism, so far (im taking world religions right now) to me, hinduism seems really dumb, how they have the god thing and all these karma thigns and stuff.

According to the book, Revelation, (If you don't think it's crap) only abou 166,000 (144,000) people go to Heaven.
