Does the Bible say ne thing is wrong with masterbating?

Supposedly, there is a verse that refers to Onan "spilling his seed on the ground," and that this should not be done.

I'm not sure, though, because there's a big cumstain on that page in my bible.

I think masterbation would come under that.

^^strictly speaking Onan's sin wasn't the coitus interruptus but the cheating his brother out of an heir.

in the OT the spilling of seed was unclean but not in itself sinful.(yes i know definitions of sin/uncleaniness vary)

I'm just wondering why people keep asking if masterbating is a sin. Are they looking to justify their actions? Are they looking for God's approval? Are they thinking that if it is a sin, and they dont do it, they are one step closer to heaven? Or if they do masterbate, and it is a sin, then they want nothing to do with religion or God?

This is the way the Law (Ten Commandments, specifically, but all of Mosaic Law, in general) works: in order to be without sin, the whole Law must be kept.. all of the time .

Jam 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is become guilty of all.

Oh, and by the way, jackketch was right reguarding Onan's sin.

Masterbation would be a sin of lust, which is a sin of adultery.

It shows it for men, but I'm guessing it applies to women as well. It seems to imply that masturbation isn't even worth discussing -- it's the bodily fluids that matter (which is why menstruation is considered "unclean").

New Testament:

I've heard two reasons why masturbation is supposed to be wrong.

1. masturbation involves lust, which is sinful

2. masturbation is an abuse of your body's sexual organs

For #1 you have to remember that sins are context sensitive. Take the example of anger. Getting angry at your computer isn't really that bad of a thing to do (as long as you don't take it out on somebody else). But getting angry at your friend would be wrong, as it could damage your friendship.

Apply that reasoning to lust. If you're lusting for somebody you shouldn't, it's sinful. If you're just experiencing pleasure through masturbation, though, I don't see anything wrong with it.

#2 is just plain stupid. using the same logic you could say that chewing gum is an abuse of your body, and is sinful. But the church continues to use it as a reason for not masturbating or using protection.

Masturbating is good for your prostate. Keeps it from getting cancer if you give it a workout every day.

No...anger is a healthy, God-given emotion. What you DO with it is all that is important, and ultimately decides whether or not it becomes a sin.

That verse does refer to masturbation (pulling it out of his wife). But God smote him because he was supposed to take her as his wife (she was his brothers wife but he died). He didnt want to have kids so he was owned.

This is fucking pathetic, If the bible says you can’t fulfil your human urges your not going to do it. That’s sad. The bible doesn't really have anything wrong with masturbating. I'm not Christian so I couldn't care less, but my grandmas a crazy overly-religious minister that knows damn near the whole bible off the top of her head and she talks about how good it is and how its the safest form of sex. Adding onto what Viraljimmy said, isn't it just about impossible not to experience some "lustful" sensations during sex? I'm sure that there are of course those times when sex is unpleasant, but certainly you wouldn't want people to purposefully aim for unpleasant intercourse, would you?
