Im in yr 10 at school but in a yr 11 history class. Since we've been learning about Hitler were going to a Holocaust Museum tommorow. Someof the people that work thier are jewish people who were in the concentration camps back then. Anyway im going to ask how they feel about the new pope being German and how he was a Hitler youth and in the German army.

I think the only way to stay out of the Hiter's youth was to be Jewish or something. And deserting any army is usualy an automatic death seantance so he really did not have much of a choice in either matter.

Im not sayin that the guy is evil or a supporter of Hitler or anything but im curious what the peoples anwser will be.

I don't know a whole lot about this pope, yet; and I am completely neutral on this, but I will say that at the time the current pope was a Hitler Youth all German youth were forced to be join. Also, I've heard that during the war, he disagreed so strongly, that he went AWOL and that that is the reason he initially went into priesthood.

I'm not saying that this is a good basis to become a priest, but supposedly he was very much against his nazi upbringing. Perhaps that's what made him want to be a priest.
