View Full Version : Just let them live on in their fantasy world and ignorance

I believe science. I do not believe that the world is 10,000 years old, that Adam + Eave were the first humans, and that the life on earth was annihilated by a world wide flood. To me it seems ridiculous that people can continue to so blindly ignore mounting evidence that science may be right in so many of our greatest questions. However, I think that it would be obvious to many Totse members that attempting to explain this to the Bible Pounders is lost cause. It is impossible to prove that a religion is wrong and that things did not happen as said in a book. No matter what evidence appears and what is shoved into their sight they will always be able to use their last resort; " Because God wanted it to be that way." I’m just saying that everything would be much more peaceful if we just let the Born-Agains continue to live on in their fantasy world instead of trying to convince them of what they obviously do not wish to hear.

Nothing can be proven either way. If it could be then we wouldn't still be talking about it, now would we?

Theirs far to much to argue and its far to late so I'm going to cut this to a minimal. Besides, I'm sure some other people have already argued this out to hell and gone.

Either way you can't prove it, that is true. Science is changing as time progresses.

I will say that religions almost always exploit their followers emotions to gain control of them. A cult is a cult regardless of the size. Christanity wants its 10% like most orginized religions.

Although certain pieces of christanity may be true, you can't deny that the bible is old. After a few thousand years and after several great men alter it over the centuries, you can no longer tell its original message. I think thats the reason for all of the conflicting messages, either that or it was mistranslated.

I'm leaving alot of stuff out because their is far to much for a single post.

Burn all the martyrs.

I hear it in science, art and the religions.

Put aside the differences, and you have the whole picture.

There's more than the physical senses. What have you got to lose?

All is to gain.

ok very anti religious by nature so i'm not saying that the bibles right or that a god even exists but some stuff in the bible is actually routed in fact its just twisted. the whole noah/flood/2 of everything on a boat/all sinners perish story is actually thought to live in fact in a way. apparently venus was once a comet and it passed close to earth in ancient times afterwhich it got locked into an orbit around our sun. passing close to earth is thought to explain the fact that in the ancient writings of many civilisations around the world there are reports of a major flood in one half of the earth and major droughts in the other. this means that the whole noah myth did actually occur in real life just probly not in the exact way that the bible portrays it (probly not the whole 2 of every animal on a boat thing or the only drowned the sinners bit). there is also a theory that the fire and brimstone raining down from the sky myth could also be explained by this event as the tail of a comet and the atmosphere of venus is comprised mainly of hydrocarbons so if it did pass near earth then it would have literally rain fire down upon us it was just explain in religious terms rather than fact because of the times and lack of scientific knowledge

The only thing that I question that makes me believe in supernaturel forces is "who made the first cell"?

lets think here... humans have been around for 3 million years ish. Written language, 8000 years ish. These stories 6000 years ish. If venus ever passed by the earth it passed by at least 3 billion years ago.

I don't think the prehistoric single celled organisms passed this story on for generations just so it could get to us now... unless god made them to get it into our religious texts!! Venus is a sign from god!

Think before you type.

I know of alot of people that claim they would still believe in God even if all the worlds scientists found that there was no God. So I guess some people are hoplessly blinded by faith, but I don't give a shit, whatever lets you sleep at night.

if you believe in science? do you believe in aliens? and what if i told you aliens made us from earlier homowhatevers and spliced their genes with ours creating homosapien. the garden of eden was actually a facility where they kept created humans to mate with others. so what do you say to that?

Sure we would. There are still people who believe the earth is flat.

And yes it can and has been "proven" one way, the problem is, people refuse to educate themselves but still believe that their uneducated opinion is right and should hold just as much weight in schools and science.

Sure dumbass fundamentalists can have whatever opinion they want, but they aren't happy just having an opinion, they want to shove it onto others. When they do, they open the door to be set right, at least so others don't make the same mistakes.

or it could havejust been your average meteor shower with large enough rocks to make it to the surface?

At any rate ive never heard of those theories and they are intriguing. But if the Bible says the waters were at least a foot higher than the tallest mountain (AKA Everest), and everest being well above sea level, how could the water not get on the other side of the world?
