It's astounding how a group of people can choose to live with so much fear and hate. I mean hate can be fun, but I don't think I could get that much into it.

But Rev. Fred Phelps is a serious nut-case. They have accounts about him, mainly from his son Mark, on www.baptistwatch.org (http://www.baptistwatch.org/fredphelps.html). It's a lot longer than it at first appears, so if you intend to read the whole thing I'd get a snack or two...

I actually think it would be decent to have a dialogue about this guy, he isn't just a cut and dry psychopath.

I really didn't look around much at the website, the article wasn't produced by them anyway. If you're going to blame anyone for giving an unfair view you're going to have to go after the reporters or Mark Phelps.

About the Bible condemning homosexuality, the thing that most Christians care about are what Jesus said and the ten commandments. The rest just depends on whether or not they want to follow it. See this excerpt (http://www.thebricktestament.com/epistles_of_paul/instructions_for_women/1co11_04.html) from the Brick Testament. When was the last time you saw all the women in church wearing veils? I thought those verses were quite plain and straight-forward, didn't you?

As for taking it all seriously, Absolutely!

Briefly... what Phelps is saying is more or less correct. God does call "laying with a man as with a woman" an abomination. When God says, "don't do this" or "do that", it is not a mere suggestion. He is the Soveriegn.

The two problems i have with Phelps is:

1. Phelps appears (if he isnt actually, but i think he is) to be judging gays.... this is God's perogative, not Phelp's

2. If Phelps is saying, "give up the gay lifestyle so that you wont be condemned", i think he is going about it the wrong way. It comes off as pure hatred. If Phelps is really concerned about saving souls, he should be pointing out the error of the way but then show that God's Grace and Love through the work Jesus did on the cross will forgive them if they repent and abandon the lifestyle.



I think Phelps is more harm than good. Atleast in my oppinion.

But in all fairness however nowhere in the Bible will you see any human that is hated by God. That Phelps guy is a disgrace to all Christians. While God hates sin, he loves the sinner.

Its not opinion its fact. Your thoughts is how he should be cnducting himself, if he ever cared to actually study the Bible.
