View Full Version : Question for non Christians and the alike
what do you think will happen to you when you die?
will you be reincarnated and come back as another human, or animal?
will you just simply cease to exist?
any other ideas?
What happens when you go to sleep? What happens when you pass out? What happens when you shoot gear, drop 'cid and smoke base? It's a state of mind. No mind, no state.

Well the chemical reaction sustaining your body will slowly come to an end. Your mind which controls all of what to take as your existance will stop running. You will no longer ... be.
Who ever said something had to happen??
umm well now i think that god is a complete load of shit!!!! i am a satinist and i know that he is protecting me and always will!! people think it is bad but its really not!!! its the way to go!!!

I'd rather be a satinist than a satanist...comfortable clothing all the time.

I think that for at least some of us our consciousness can survive death. I wouldn't know how, as I don't even have an answer for what consciousness is, but it seems to occur every once in a while with stuff like ghosts and reincarnation.

We should make a short story about satin worshipers. It could be, like, with a bunch of Victoria Secret's business executives cutting up unworn (virgin) polyester shorts or burning them... or something. Maybe something to do with the Chinese and silk worms.

What a sad existence you lead.

Everything'll feel just like it did before I was born.
When I die, I really, really would not care a shit about what happens. Another state. A transition. Maybe somekind of metamorphosis. After all, we're blood and flesh. Tiny electrical impulses. Carnage. Without F=ma we're nothing, are we?
Maybe we'll change into another form of energy. Enjoy life while you still can, and don't seek an answer to questions without one.

As oppose to wasting a life worshiping a god that cannot exist?

What a sad existence YOU lead. Living your life believing all the pain you suffer will lead to redemption in some other life, somehow, someway. A better existence will come, right?
NO. Sorry, you're going to die, and there will be nothing. You live and exist only in the physical world, forget about noumena and live.

Hey, Costley: These days Westerners generally are concerned about what happens before they die rather whan after. So maybe that would be a better question?

I'm pretty sure she is living in a way that brings her happiness, something that we should all strive for.
Religion is just a lifestyle choice. Some people live for the extremes in life. Other people live for the internal peace in life. She is living, just not in the way that you think she should.
Some of the time I believe in reincarnation, and the rest of the time I tell myself that I'll worry about the afterlife when I'm closer to dying.
how does reincarnation work out witht the population expansion? when the population starts to shrink sometime there'll be like a queue or people standing in line waiting to be reincarnated. thats just messed up.

I think you need to read something on what reincarnation actually is.
In Vedic/Buddhist thought, reincarnation is just a recycling of your karmic energy in any form. This means your karmic energy could become a tree, an ant, or a human being, anything really.

You mean doing drugs, fucking bitches, partying for days on end and driving exotic cars at speeds even Jesus can't top? Reading the bible is so much more fun. http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)
Fucktard.
I believe in reincarnation until a point when you figure out whats going on. Every life you get more and more deja vu / insanity hints, hard to explain, until finally your soul no longer needs a body and you can travel the cosmos / spirit world (I call it, surfing the waves of eternity. Either that, or your imagination comes to life, and you become God of your own universe.(but for all you know it could be "the universe")(This all came to me after eating 7g dried of psilocybin mushrooms) I was going totally insane in front of my parents screaming."I COULD BE GOD, I COULD BE SATAN, I COULD BE EVERYTHING, WERE ALL GONNA GET THE CHANCE, IT WAS IN ALL OF US THE DAY WE WERE BORN, AND WILL BE THE DAY WE DIE, WE ARE BLESSED, WE ARE DAMNED. I really have a feeling were all going to know what its like to be God.(not the christian God, but the idea of being infinity)

Except for exotic cars, been there, done that.
As to speeding, was pulled over on motorcycle for doing 74 mph in a 25mph zone... the cop got out of his car laughing http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif)
Climbed up to the third story of womens dorm, to get a piece. i've driven by that building, and i have a hard time believing it myself (but i have witnesses though http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif) )
I drank heavily. Used to go out 5-6 nights a week.. maybe once a month would go home not hammered. And drove.. dui in 1988, often would pull over car anywhere because i couldnt see the steering wheel, passout-- when i would wake up, often would not have a clue where i was. And these drinking years were also my claim to local fame as a 'bar slut'. At the time, because i wanted somesort of relationship (gee, i wonder why i couldnt keep one), i was discussing this with a friend (she ended up marrying one of my best friends), i asked her what was wrong with me. She said, "it is because you are a hunter". She was right. It got to be that i could see a gal and know what type of approach to use and how fast to use it. But 'getting a piece' was as far as i would go... no effort into starting a relationship, let alone having and keeping one.
Drugs? yes. I liked pot and speed. Did alot in high school (maybe not compared to you, i dont know). When i went in the Army, i was worried about disappointing my dad with a dishonorable, so i pretty much left it alone (although i was stationed in Hawaii, and did have a few locals that were friends. There were a few beach parties that were all weekend drinking and smoking and bodysurfing in the moonlight... bodysurfing at night in the ocean while drunk and stoned is probably not the smartest thing i've done, but i'm sure there were worse things). After i got out, i did alittle, but found that i had pretty much out grown it. Now i just have a few fond memories, but no desire.
Which leads me to:
quote:Reading the bible is so much more fun.
Yes, i enjoy reading, to include the Bible.
At the times in my life that i have done those things, sure, they did seem like fun..and most times they were fun... but they were also incredibly stupid and reckless and often times, not very nice to other people in the A.O.
When i first got the internet (early 90s i think) i was with AOL, and when choosing a screenname, i thought it should be reflective of who i was. I have repelled, went skydiving (once), rock climbing, surfed, bodysurfed, windsurfed, downhill skiing, snowboarding (alpine..fast..wiped out once, was in hospital most of day because they thought i broke my neck), white-water rafted (once- colorado river, i think), would do just about anything on a dare, been a member of a motorcycle club.
I also liked Van Halen.
so i tried Extreme5150 (it was already used)
anyway, it became xtreem5150, for extreme sports and 5150 for the def. VH gave (Cali. police code for escaped mental patient, non-violent) because i felt that i was crazy, but in a fun sort of way.
I know all this seems like rambling, and much is, but my point is, there are many things that are fun besides "doing drugs, fucking bitches, partying for days on end and driving exotic cars at speeds even Jesus can't top" that are not so life wasting or endangering/rude to people in the area.
P.S. Thanks, that was fun going down memory lane. A few more came to mind, like playing "touch" football on lava rocks... i say "touch" because it turned into 'push' football, which inturn, turned into "almost tackle' lol.. lava rocks sure cut the crap outta ya lol.
Another one was 'combat' frisbee, where we would duct tape (called 'hundred mile an hour' tape in aviation, which i was at the time) many washers to the discs .. it was just like dodge ball, with heavy washers that could and did dislodge from the discs. LOL guess you had to be there. http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

Reincarnation is found in non-dualistic beliefs, so the answer is that there is no difference between you and a virus. And I don't mean that as an insult.

what i meant to do was use a virus as an example of a techinically non-living organism--so to rephrase that i would be asking what the specifications are of an object to be subject to a soul of reincarnation. for example you cant be reincarnated as a rock, but can you be reincarnated as a tree? a bacterium? a fossil? what exactly is it that enables an entity (alive or not)to posses a soul?

think about it this way: what are you, not your body, you, your personality, your conscious state.
people say it is your brain that is yout conscious existence but no cell in your body lasts for more than and is replaced witha new one every 7 years so when your 8 years old you will not have the same body as when your 30, but something must be there that is you, that why I believe that there must be a soul.
Some scientist said that he researched what exactly being alive was but he always came down to atoms, lifeless matter. Another reason I believe there must be a soul.
Some say the soul finds a lifeless being to go in (baby/reincarnation) some say it goes away into space.
But people whos hearts have stopped and re-started always say either they saw a light at the end of the tunnel, or that they saw themselves on the bed. more proof that a soul of some form, not neccessarily in the traditional sense, must exist.
