Ok. I want to hear what you think will happen to you when you die. I want to hear your personal opinion. And I don't want people to flame other people's opinions but it's inevitable. Just want to hear opinions and ideas.

You get to create your own universe. You get to be God and see what its like. I believe that or either your reborn and reborn until you start to get what life is all about ad your soul becomes so powerful it no longer needs a body and you fly around the cosmos interacting with other demons and doing whatever the fuck you feel like until you get bored and choose to terminate your soul from existance. Either that, or you just dont exist anymore. Man I feel sorry for the infinite things that dont exist.

Hmmm I have a few ideas.

1. If I have completed my purpose here then I'll move onto a new plane of existence. Or if I didn't I'll have to live another life to complete my task.

2. The two ids I have will somehow become self-aware and I'll be locked in a battle between my subconscious entities. (This ties in with the last post of we create our own reality.)

3. I kind of hope to not exist anymore, it's a possibility but I don't find it likely.

Why is there this whole thing surrounding death? You may feel like it, but you are not a supernatural being. The chemical reaction sustaining your life ends and your atoms return to the universe, infact you never really were a seperate entity from the universe so there is no returning to do. You are not special!

Yeah, when I die I want to be god of my own universe.

Haha... no, I'll create another Earth and send a son or something down to teach people about ganja.

And in my spare time, I'll blow stars up.

Holy shit make up your mind man. I see you on this forum saying that there is no god. Next thing you know you say that there is a god and atheists are wrong. And then I see that you say there is no god again. And here, again, you deny the exsistnce of god. I've gotta tell you man... you are special.

i believe you brain, heart and lungs cease to function, some carnivore will eat your flesh and your bones will be decomposed by saprophytic bacteria leaving you hideous remains to become fossil fuel in a few millenia

A better question would be

"what will go on after you die"?

What is this "you" that you

think would live outside your

brain?

As a Christian, I can say that we believe that once you die, you either go to heaven because of your belief in God while on earth, or you go to Hell, based on your rejection of God.

That's probably the most obvious answer.

When you die, nothing happens. Your mind stops and its darkness. Like sleeping without having dreams and never waking up.

maybe this is a dream and when you 'die' you wake up, like in a dream? i don't know what to believe really, but the not existing thing kinda bothers me.

Personally I believe one of two things will happen;

A) I'll die. End of story, have a nice life.

B) I'll just blink, I'll wake up hundreds of years in the future when by some fluke they're brought me back from the dead, I'll die in that 'lifetime' as well, and keep on doing so for all of time, if time is infinite and all...

NOT knowing what happens to us after we die is what gives us free will.

And weather it be religion (God gave us the power of free will), or reason (existence, survival of the fittest), free will is what keeps us going.

I see it this way, believing in god and heaven gives us a purpose to exist.

And reason keeps the ideas fresh and fluctuating, spawning new ideas.

So weather its religion or reason, free will is what drives the idea in the first place, which concludes the fact that knowing what happens after we die can only bring something totally inpredictable. losing your free will. (personally i think it will mark the beganning of the end?)

I believe that deep down we all know how good we are and how bad we are and that, once dead, we go where we think we'll go. If you think you'll go out like a candel, you will and if you deep down know you've been good or bad you create your own heaven and hell out of the fact that there is no longer anything to prove. There is no ego, no id. Just you, dealing with yourself, and that's the end all of it.

Cheers,

Lost

I would like to think something out of the ordinary happens. Something along the lines of reincarnation, or there is a heaven and hell. If I had a choice as to what happend to me when my body ceases to exist and my "soul" is left, I would choose to make my own "heaven". Or to live a life of my own choosing.

Depends on how you die. If your body is totally destroyed, then nothing.

If your brain and nervous system are mostly intact, brain activity can occur at nearly the same levels it did durring life, only without sensory input, for about 10 minutes. I would like to think that you can perceive this short period of dream-state as much longer than it actually is, to the point where it effectively qualify in your mind as some type of afterlife--brain activity slowly fading out in a manner not allowing you to realize that your dream-state is ending.

Now if this brain activity does not turn out to allow for a dream-state to occur, then there is something else I've considered. Electrical impulses continue to occur in the brain and nervous system for up to 30 days after death, if the brain and nervous system are intact. After the brain cells forming your neural-net die from lack of oxygen 6 minutes(?) after death, you are left without memories. But the parts of the brain responsible for sensation remain receptive of the electrical impulses still occuring; since the organs allowing for the senses of sight, taste, hearing, and smell will no longer function without your body's life processes, you are left only with a relatively low-level sense of touch, and the feeling of physical pain is tied to this sense. Over the period of time of these electrical impulses' persistance, you will experience nothing but the horrible festering burning sensation of your body decomposing around your nerves. This would be similar to the feeling of hellfire described in the bible; having no sense of sight or hearing one would experience quiet darkness, one being forever burned by the kind of fire god created for the sole purpose of punishing the wicked--the fire that makes no light or heat or roar, but burns thousands of times stronger than the fire we experience on earth.

That all of course was very loose speculation, and I'm certainly speaking of loosely comprehended concepts I've read or heard about. I'm not schooled in neurology or anything, just some ideas I chalked together.

1. You die and fade to nothingness (Fade to Black).

2. You go to the 'school' of hell, until you can 'graduate' into ascending into heaven, where you'll either live blissfully in God's Gates 4ever, or until He's ready to execute the plan He had for the souls of mankind all along.

3. You roam around all plains of existance.

4. You stay locked in a 'dreamworld', comprised of whatever thought(s) you were thinking of at the point of death. i.e. your own private hell or paradise.

You don't believe that and neither does any other mentally healthy human being. We have 6 billion God Complexes on this planet.

No, Viraljimmy has put my view the best so far. You are dead, there is no more you. That is what happens.

No offense, but that takes more faith than is required to believe in Christianity.
