Before when i used to bash religion it was before i knew of Taoism (which i don't consider to be a religion). Taoism is the greatest thing in the world. It teachs better morals than Christianity or Judaism or Islam. I will probably become a Taoist. I encourage all of you to read Tao Te Ching which I shall read in a matter of days (I just did my first research on it today and boy am I intrigued). But I am just purely amazed. "Those who know don't say. Those who say don't know" - Lao Tzu

Castro stop trying to sound wise by quoting witty remarks.

I'm probably a Taoist, by most definitions. I've read the Tao Te Ching, and I strongly admire the philosophy. Nevertheless, I personally question some of the ethical standards Taoism broadcasts.

For example:

"Those who know don't say. Those who say don't know" - Lao Tzu

I disagree with this quote, regardless of whether it's an observation or a recommendation. I think that humanity would live better if people were more engaged, outgoing and willing to discuss issues. I believe that those are intelligent or knowledge certainly "say". I might be missing an inner meaning in this quote (which is very common, with literature from the 6th century BC). Correct me.

Taoism advocates humility, surrender, laziness and a state of being meek. I cannot advocate these characteristics.

Taoism's greatest feature is its acknowledgement of the inevitability of occurrences and change, and relativism of the World.

To me this is the message that i got out of Taoism

"What happens, happens, the tao will take care of it all."

That's the hijacked misinterpretation of Taoism that hippies and "free-sprits" embrace. Such clowns use Taoism as a way to justify their laziness, pettiness and helplessness.

After further consideration (yes, I'm going to contradict myself) Taoism doesn't profess adherence to submissive and meek practices. One can be ambitious, loud, progress-oriented and hard working. This person would embrace Yang, opposed to Yin.
