View Full Version : Can God hate?
I am Catholic, well, I believe in the Catholic God.
I have a feeling he hates me...can he?
Why would he?

Erm, god killed off everyone except for Noa and his bitch, i think he is capable of hating.
More to the point, i think god is probably either dead and has left us or he was never there in the first place. Why do you think he hates you? Good motto i've heard is that rather than looking up for answers, look inside yourself.

What an idiot. So i suppose a veterinaritan euthanizing a kitten means that he hates the kitten?
Anyway read the Bible. God hates pride among all other sins.
He loves you. If you've done something to damage your relationship with Him, maybe its time to reconcile.

And Noah's sons and their bitches.
Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
Lev. 20:23, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them."
Prov. 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."
Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels."

God doesn't hate. He can experience the feelings associated with wrath, but it is definitely not hatred, since it is considered a righteous anger that spawns His wrath.
Regarding YOU in particular, He loves His creation. When bad things happen, you can thank Satan.

Catholic viewpoint:
God can't experience feelings. He exists outside of time. Feelings imply change, and because God is perfect, he cannot change.
God wishes NO ONE to go to hell. You'll wind up in Hell only if you do not wish to be in full communion with God.
God wiped out the world in the flood for the good of the human race, not because those who hated him were evil. God punishes no one, what he does is give everyone free will. All God has done was done to preserve the free will of the human race or to help humans realize why they would wish to be in full communion with God.

He must, otherwise the all-powerfull,all-knowing being would just kill Satan; wouldn't he?

Does God have to hate in order to understand the mechanics of the emotion ?
Hatred denotes some form of sin. God can get angry, but He can't hate. It would be entirely against His nature.

Why? I dont mean "who are we to say what God would or wouldnt do" or "we cant know what God's purpose is" (not that we can)
But rather, why would kill Satan, a being that He created for His purpose, prior to what ever plan God has, is complete?

Again from the Catholic side. God can't be angry he's outside of time. However when he came down to Earth as Jesus then he could be angry. He bashed up the temple vendors didn't he? On Earth he had the ability to hate because he was human. He didn't hate, because he was God. If he couldn't hate the guys who killed him, how could he hate you. Think about that.

I'm not directly disagreeing with you, but if Satan makes bad things happen and God made Satan, um...?

I believe that there is a balance of free will and how much God will intervene...

Too Catholic (interpret it as true if you want. I like the ambiguity :-). )
So anything that say were to be bad that happens to me, with a relgious type influence (or as I beleive) would be from Satan only?
God hates buttsekz. He's clearly a rape victim.

Whatever you believe God thinks about you, you actually think about yourself.

god is not real he is an idea used to exploit the fear of life after death so the people in power can manipulate the people not in power and stay in power
