View Full Version : deism
ever tried a different faith?
im being force-fed anglican beliefs and i hate it. i mean, god is supposed to love us, right? yet we are meant to fear him? sounds a bit wifebeater-esque to me. right now im up for the pagan beliefs, deism i think is the right word, where theres more than one god etc.
just think, maybe we're not meant to rule all under god. i mean what if all the satirical things are true, and we are in a backwater galaxy?
but plz dont UP FOR GOD ETC religious post just coz u were raised like that. its about questioning christianity. plz no explanations of christianity or life lessons from the bible.
its not that i want anyone to prove that the bible etc exist, its that i dont want to believe in christianity. i want to go wiccan or another pagan belief.
NB: i am not goth or satanical

Thats what Deism is. A religion with more than one God is polytheist.
And try not to use netspeak. It makes you look like an idiot.
For your information most wicca and most other "pagan" religions are at best loosely based on older religions with alot of made up stuff to fill in the gaps.

MasterPython wins again. Good advice.
Furthermore: you may be instructed to follow certain faiths but that doesn't mean you have to believe in them. It is polite to be tolerant of other peoples beliefs and just because they're not tolerant of your doesn't mean you have to retaliate by being intolerant of theirs. If put in such a position, it's best to do the following:
If it's an authority (like an older family member, a teacher, a religious leader, etc...) it would be polite to just simply smile and nod. You don't have to agree and if you really feel the need I personally encourage you to say
"We don't agree on this. That's okay by me."
Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you have to be rude.
Also, when you are in a place or position of worship it is polite to observe the common practices for the sake of the believers around you. A church/temple is a sacred place to people and by ignoring their customs you're inviting them to ignore yours.
Bottom line: your beliefs are your beliefs and others beliefs are their beliefs. You wont always agree and that's okay. What's important is that you are tolerant of their beliefs. They may not always be as tolerant you, but then, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you are a better person than they are.

We should fear God (Matthew 10:28)
We should love God (Matthew 22:37)
There is no fear in love (John 4:18)

Yet immediately after Matther 10:28, we are told that our fear is unfounded in Matthew 10:31. Although I have no acces to, or ability to understand the original text, It seems to be that what Matthew says is that if we had to fear anyone, it would be God, but we don't even have to fear God.
Also your last passage has nothing to do with fear. Seems you've got a typo.

Joh 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
As for the word 'fear', the Greek is 'phobeo**772;'
From G5401; to frighten, that is, (passively) to be alarmed; by analogy to be in awe of, that is, revere: - be (+ sore) afraid, fear (exceedingly), reverence.

Cuppas, you can't just go pulling gods out of your ass like that. Just go with being agnostic, because you really don't believe in shit of any of these other things. "I'm feeling like..."? You show a lack of understanding for religion, but agnostic suits you best from what you've shown.
yeah my bad, this post fizzed...
