other than the catchall explanation of "original sin", can someone who believes that man is flawed and sinful naturally explain to me their personal beliefs on why they think as they do?

i don't quite understand your question. do you want to know if someone believes a person is naturally sinful (that is born not in a state of grace)? and you want to know why? But you don't want someone who believes in original sin? it seems that no one would say a person is born in sin except if he believes in original sin (that is precisely what original sin is). or do i misunderstand what you're saying?
