This doesn't concern monotheists or atheists.
Polytheism - A religion with more than one Diety or Patron.
How many gods do you guys have? I was wondering what the most common "number" of dieties among people is other than one or zero.
I personally have four. (based on the whole earth, wind, water & fire spiel)
Notice: I posted this because I am bored and have nothing else to do. I'm not expecting this thread to last long.

I wonder which religions are least represented in this forum. So far the vast majority are ateists followed by Christians and then Muslims (i think)

There are probably more Buddhists, Taoists, etc. than Muslims on here.

da vinci spent a good portion of his life define materials as made up by the four elements.
earth, air, fire, water.
unfortunatly for his research he realized that any give material would have to be composed of much more then four simple elements, years after da vincis death anouther scientist discovered there were actually 52 naturally occuring elements and that it was also possible to create new synthetic elements for short periods of time.
you cant just hear information and then use it for a basis for a religion, i pity people who beleive in the four elements a long ago proven false science.

Apparently, polytheism isn't too popular on Totse.
I don't devote myself to any specific number of Gods, but I realize some people have ties with one or two.

Satanism, now i know Satan is a god, But does the fact that Abaddon and stuff are involved, does that mean its polytheism, excuse my ignorance http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif).

The whole thing dealing with "earth, air, fire, water" might be "unscientfic" if dealing with the physical world because we know that there are more elements then just those 4. However, in pagan religions, Satanism especially, the 4 elements are merely representational of the physical universe. If you look at a modern pentagram for instance, there are 4 points called by each of the 4 elements and the 5th point is is "spirit", thus showing where the spirit world and the physical world work as one.

The trinity is God in three entities.
Still one God, still monotheistic.

Actually, in away, it does. I'm pretty sure that in polytheism, there are no "all powerful" gods. They are limited, so the question of their origin would be more of a problem than the origin of life. But one Eternal God, atleast sorta "answers" that.

If by "answers" you mean "cop out", then yes.
The birth of gods are well told throughout most polytheistic religions. The mono-three? No.
