It is interesting to note that you have read so many books, yet didn't bother to adopt the vocabulary or structure they conveyed.

I wish you luck on finding whatever it is you are looking for, though.

Sephiroth is a different transliteration from the Hebrew: samech-fay-yud-resh-vav-tav.

Kabbalah came first, FFVII second. I love both. It was an appropriate name for me.

I think Seph, being a Jew and someone who understands the Kabbala better than I ever could would be a better person to answer your question, Kannabis.

Seph, can you give your take on the general contempt held for people like Maddona, within the Kabbalist circles, and why ?

Thanks, dollface. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)

Christian, and pagan applications of Kabbalah are generally not accepted for a number of reasons. Christian Kabbalah tries most often to use it to justify their trinity (they get three from ten) and challenge the oneness of God which Judaism has ever clinged to and misunderstands the status of the sefirot as separate beings rather than the channels by which God interacts with the universe which they are. Pagan kabbalah generally takes the distorted Chrsitian kabbalah and runs with it and becomes bullcrap. Kabbalah is based mainly on a couple written works, which Kabbalah believers claim to be either divinely inspired or trace their lineage back to certain prophets or patriarchs through the oral and midrashic traditions. These books are the Sefer Raziel HaMalakh, the Sefer Yetzirah, the Bahir, and the Zohar. The Zohar is considered the most important of these works, followed by the Sefer Yetzirah. Jewish mystical literature has a way of being meaningless to anyone without an extensive knowledge of the Tanakh, the Talmud, and the Midrashic literature that goes along with it. The reading and subsequent interpretation of the works by untrained minds is the obvious root of the apostacy of Christian and Pagan Kabbalah.

The Kabbalah of Madonna comes from the Kabbalah Centre. The objection modern Kabbalists have to that organisation is that, although it began as an honest effort to bring Kabbalah learning to the masses, it has since secularised its teachings and removed the Judaisitic and even theistic aspects that form the basis of the entire mysticism and has degraded into new-age pseudo-religious pollution.

It should be noted that extensive learning of Kabbalah is generally restricted to males of 40 years of age who are married. This is to approximate their level of learning in broader Jewish law (Hallakhah), which is required to understand the works upon which the mysticism is based.
