I've come to a point in my life where i am looking for whats out there, and of course god or some thing. it's just i have trouble accepting if he is real.

i know this is a personal thing, i have a bible, but no one in my family are religious.

about 2 years ago i was looking for god but i lost intrest but something keeps bringing me back to religion and god.

i like catholic because of confession but christianity is cool also as i guess you confess in prayer?

i guess i am just rambling at the moment, so i ask of you totseians, why do you believe what made you belive? and what should i do to help my faith.

and what parts should i read in there bible?

i try to define my personal doctrine by the bible and not the other way around.

what to read? just start and read til something 'speaks to you' and whatever else you do, don't go and ask christians what something in the bible means.

You need help 'finding God'...why, is he lost...[just a little inappropriate humour there]

If God is real...'He' is in everything...

Books, doctrine,...etc...are merely man's experiences in their search for God (and 'self', I must add)...and are limited, at best...

The closest I have come is the opinion that 'love' is the starting place, because...if God is real...that is where He may be found inside us...

[...hmmm...is there such a thing as an agnostic christian...???]

Search here and find a very good version of the bible.

I have the Tanakh...The Jerusalem Bible...and assorted other version...not highly schollarly though.

I would go with the Tanakh...Read from beginning to end...then move on to the Testaments since they quote the OT and you will have a clearer understanding of what is being said...

Steer clear of fundy's though...

[If I joined a religious group...it would probably be a jewish group...never met a Jew I did not like.]

You know i found god one day ,.... i was walking my ass around the streets when god was just kinda standing smoking a joint .... so i came out of the shadows and BAM i smashed him in the face, not so divine that i couldnt kick his ass ,mug him ,and smoke his joint over his semi concious body.....

Please do not seek God through a denomination. Seek God through his written word. I can go through and give bible verses for each religion that leaves something out of the bible and bases their beliefs off of what they didn't take out.

Here's a sweet little story. A little girl goes to church with her bible. After service she walks up the the preacher with a bible that has only the front and back hard covers, and the preacher says, "We need to get you a new bible, because all the pages are missin'." The little girl says, "Oh, it's no use. I only rip out what you preach against."

Get yourself in a word faith church.

Don't listen to hellzshellz you cannot solely find God through the bible ( or Thora or Kuran etc. ). Find it through your mind. Not that I dislike the holy books, mind you, I think they are good for teaching morals. But essentially, worshiping a 'god' is simply striving to live your life by morals which seem correct to you. It would only be foolish to think that one book ( the bible for example ) is correct, and all others are wrong.

Oh, and if you do it because you want to go to heaven, I think that a true merciful god would send any man who lived his life virtuously (sp?) to his Nirvana/Valhalla/Heaven. Because quite frankly, I think none of todays religions are 100% correct. I do believe in some sort of god, or higher being, though. But I don't think something that is so powerful that he could create something of enormous complexity like our universe would restrict his followers to a religion.

I would advise you to make up your own religion, your own way of life, based on the morals that you consider important. It is key to a happy life and inner peace, too.

I agree with a lot of what you say...except that 'worshipping God' has little to do with morals...morals reflect the 'god' you worship though.

Maybe I misunderstand what you're saying here?

Instead of 'looking for what's out there', look within.

i ain't sure what a 'word faith church ' is but it sounds horribly american.

whatever they are, the chances are that they also ignore large chunks of scripture.

I think we'd need to define what God is before someone can find him.
