View Full Version : Forum instead of church
I come to this forum now instead of going to church with my family.
Please comment on the ideological value of this decision.

I don't think this forum should be a replacement for church. The spiritual connection you can gain from attending church cannot be achieved on a web forum.
This is a forum for learning, for defending faiths, and for obliterating other religions.
It is for questioning, discovering, and deciding.
It should NOT, for spiritual reasons, replace your place of worship. Unless, of course, there are OTHER reasons why you do not like to go to your church. In which case, you should certainly find another one more suitable to your personality.
These are my thoughts. Take 'em, or leave 'em.
Hey im gonna go straight to left field and address something that you said at the end of your post digital_saviour...
You said that you should find another church more suitable to your personality.
Do you really mean that?
Shouldn't you be looking for the religion that is 'true' not the one that suits you best?
If you need a religion that suits you best, isn't that only supporting what you already think, so pretty much you need an 'official' approval to what you already believe - which makes you pissweak in character?!
My parents always stressed doing whats right not whats easy/hard or anything else
To be honest I stopped going to church because I don't really believe in it but I make a point of coming to this forum so that I dont feel bad about attending church (should make sense to any churchgoers)

Being spiritually fed is paramount. I wasn't talking about religion, I was talking about church.
For me, church is not about religion, since I am a non-denominational Christian (not Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, etc). I have faith in Christ and God, and I go to a church that endorses this.
We read the Bible, and study the Hebrew texts, and worship through praise music. That's it. No silly ceremonies, no man-made tenets to live by...just God, unadulterated.
If I go to a church that is weighed down by rules, regulations, rituals and traditions (that have nothing to do with the God of the Christian Bible), I won't be spiritually fed, because spiritual discernment will tell me that it is not a healthy place to be. For some, it may be, but for me, it isn't. If it isn't, I won't get anything out of it, so it is pointless to go.
That is what I mean when I use the phrase "spiritually fed."
Hope that clarified my position.
