View Full Version : the bible's hell
Sorry, this is very general, but what is the explanation of hell and limbo in the bible, and not the vision from Dante's Inferno, or some other interpretation. Right now, all i know (or think i know), that according to the bible, it's a place which does not have god's love. I don't exactly have a bible with me at the moment, and i'm kind of lazy to look it up the internet. I was also wondering what are the muslim's view on the afterlife (mainly heaven and hell comparison, or something like that). Thanks

Hell in the bible is a place without God, like you said. "Hell" as it's discribed by contemporary christianity is a creation of dante and thereafter proliferated by firebrand preachers who care not for the souls of men, but care for their money and believe that if they can get people to believe their BS that they can get a better spot in heaven.
I heard the sounds of hell

I think Hell is around us now, even as Heaven is around us.
We've heard that Hell is below Heaven, we've heard of being 'cast into the great lake of fire'?
I think that Hell is the fire that we are tested in when we are apart from Heavenly things. When we are less than able to reach The Kingdom of God.
Is it not fitting then that Him who shall open the door for us, wich no man opens and no man closes, that this very one like "unto the Son of Man" should have feet like fine brass, eyes as a flame of fire and a voice as many waters?
Comments?

Muslims believe in the well known heaven of 72 virgins, etc. And they believe in hell, a place of eternal torture.
The Hebrew bible doesnt say more than a few words. It believes in an afterlife, but doesn't talk about it because it's not important. The current idea of heaven and hell is more Dante/Zoroastern than anything, borrowed by christians for their own ends.
