I consider myself a beleive in Jesus and do what i can as a typical high school kid. ya ok enough intro.

my question is: while i understand the wrong in using heavy drugs that make you dependant (including cigarettes... people are meant to clint to God, not substances), is there any actual Cristian documentary that says people are not to indulge in something like this occasionally like for social outings? Ya its kinda hard on your body and might make your problem solving ability go down like 1% if you smoke a ton, but i'm talking about like a bit on weekends. I know a lot of people do immoral things while high, but i'm talking about simply being high in general. a lot of people just laugh and make jokes and stuff. I think a lot of people automatically think illegal= immoral. to that i say, is driving fast immoral? I'm pretty sure God doesn't care how fast we drive. Its just an earthly body that would get banged up, not your soul...so who cares. My mind is drawing a blank and can't come up w/anymore examples like this, but you get what i mean.

Please keep stupid reasons to a minimum. like "because there is no God and the church is stupid" (even though i know i'll get these). If you have something logical to contribute then by all means do so.

BTW i didn't really make it clear... i rarely ever smoke at all... i'm just wondering based on my dad like lecturing me and stuff. Like when he found out i was helping my friend grow, he made it sound like this was something to go to hell for. I almost contested it w/the same question i'm posting here, but i was already in plenty of trouble (and he had also done a little reading and identified my salvia plant and taken that on the same day)

unfortunately the bible is very unclear on this. most less radical christiansd describe such stuff as 'middle things'

= neither intrinsically good nor bad. depends on the amount and the consequences.

the more radical will tell you it's sin and you are polluting the temple of the holy spirit etc....

although the same radicals, on the whole, drive cars...which kick out benzol (?)

good reply w/good stuff to think on. the holy temple thing... that would imply that 1. your body is a holy temple, which is not true (ppl r pretty unholy.. thats the whole pt of Jesus) or 2. the air is holy. also not true.

yes i agree that it isn't a "good" thing. and ya, there are ppl who fall under psycological addiction to it (like you can w/anything) and that is wrong. getting someone pregnant while high = wrong. etc.

Well,

your body is to be a temple for the holy spirit.

MJ is bad for your body and God wants you to be healthy.

You can do some really stupid things while high.

MJ, as unadictive as it is, can become an idol that draws worship from the LORD.

I dont believe that you will be damned for it, but it's generally a bad idea. Try to stay away.

on point 1: the Bible says that the body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

So yea, fucking yourself up is wrong. I cant say that vaporized salvia is detrimental to your health though. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)

the bible IS clear on subjects like these. One, you not suppose to ruin your health, it should be viewed as holy, and not to be shit on. two, you suppose to do all things/keep your mind on god at all times. you cant do thsi when your smashed.

while your point is basically correct, and i agree w/it and everything, i'll argue it for the sake of argueing.

God is probably the last thing on my mind during some classes at school. it generally wanders from like grl in front of me, to counting sheep (sleeping), to some paying attention (liek ur supposed to) etc., cause ya know we're human and all, and don't function perfect enough

ok i'm rambling now. enough of this thread. point well taken.

The quest for not damaging your "temple" is ridiculous. It's virtually impossible.

If living a normal life without the use of drugs still damages your temple, and still causes mind-altering effects, then not smoking marijuana because of that is unreasonable.

and yet the very substance that gives us llife, also destroys us (ie oxygen).

your argument would only be valid if we had a perfect body at birth.
