It feels fine. I'm not going to think or see again, but I won't have the desire to do. As such, it's not going to be a problem. I'd rather be hell-bound atheist than a moron that can't spell, to boot.

Wow, you really do exemplify the life of a religious man right there.

Not only can't you spell or use a little thing we like to call "punctuation", but you've managed to be a giant, judgemental, ass. I think that if there was a hell, you'd be going there as fast as the atheists.

Dude, if I believe that I am going to die and burn in hell, I would have gone to church every Sunday and praise the Lord (suck-up to Him), so that I'll go to Heaven instead.

Obviously you have no clue what atheists believe. When you die, your mind ceases to exist. Just as before you were born. You won't experience eternal darkness. You won't experience anything at all. You simply won't exist.

It feels good to know the truth, and to be able to admit to the truth. How does it feel to be so damn scared of the truth that you dedicate your life to something that doesn't even exist?

You're asking us what its going to feel like in 'eternal darkness' (something we don't belive in) and then tell us tho 'have fun in Hell'(something else we don't belive in)

Stop trying to gloat about the fact you have a religion, and therefore, in your view, are superior.

Lets face it, you wern't planning to give a shit about our replys, were you?

EDIT: This isn't even the first time someones made a stupid thread like this.

Sometimes i believe that god may need a sacrifice of basic intelligence amongst his worshippers .....

it would explain dumb muthafuckers' like ths one.

is that a christian thing to say? i mean really, have you read the bible ? jesus tells you to keep your praise like a secret ,no one needs to know its personal between you and god ,as such one doesnt need to be a christian or believe in god to go to heavan...

unfourtunately it deosnt matter cause theres nothing when you die ,cause where would god keep all these constantly appearing souls?

You assume that I don't believe in an afterlife. I do. I'm an atheist. An atheist is just someone who doesn't believe in any gods. It doesn't mean that you don't believe in an after life. Damn ignorant christians.

Digital_Savior
2005-07-22, 20:14
Excuse me, but HE is an ignorant...I wouldn't even call Him a Christian, because he is certainly not holding true to the tenets of the faith.

From a religious standpoint, I think atheist's are going to hell.

However, I don't find that funny, nor do I find myself to be "superior" to someone who is not going to heaven. That's just bullshit, and it makes me sick.

THAT GUY is the reason why Christianity is hated. If you look solely to Christ's teachings, Christianity is an awesome faith.

Anyway...sorry for the rant.

What do you remember of your first day on Earth? Nothing I'm guessing.

Anyway, perhaps our brain is what gives us the ability to store memory, and without it we have no choice but to always exist in the here and now, IE: With every present moment, the last exists no more.

With this scenario it's easy to see why we don't remember anything before our birth.

Exactly.

Many see death as "eternal darkness" but that's not true. The humanist view puts death as the exact same feeling as before birth.

Was it scary before you were born (more exact, conceived)?

I wasn't "thinking" anything for around 13.5 billion years before I was conceived, life is the oddity, not death.

I think everyone has pretty much pwned this guy.

Do people find comfort in ignorance? God and religious bullshit is so abstract. Way back when, everything was attributed to some divine, omnipotent being. As the human race has collectively learned more, we find that phenomena can be explained by physical laws, not in terms of gods or angels or prophets.

Well since atheists don't really worry about bunking it with Satan, I doubt this will get them believing in Satan or hell at all. If God actually did excist (not saying he does I personally believe he doesn't) he's a self-absorped bastard. I mean he's trying to get everyone to believe a story of impossible acheivements. Creating the world in a matter of days, Killing off all but two of every animal (yes killing off. Anyone who says he saved two of every animal you can go lick yourself off),Giving light and crap. Then would sentence someone to hell not for something important like living your life with morals, but for not believing in him. Personally, I'd rather not go around killing people and just cease to excist when I die then go around killing people but then just confessing about it and ending up in heaven merely for the reason of believing in an impossibility.

I might aswell start spreading the word of Santa Clause because he is just as likely if not more likely to excist and atleast he spreads happiness instead of "fear" to his followers.

Okay if you guys have a choice I want all of you to start to believe in the big Elmo in the sky. You don't have much choice in what you believe. You could force yourself to worship god but if you don't believe he excists your really not believing it. You can come across new information that will make you come to a revelation in what you believe but just switching it isn't actually putting faith into it.

Your personality is affected and formed by your genetics and your environment...neither of which you control. Your tastes are affected and formed by your personality. Your interests are affected and formed by your tastes. The information you recieve is affected and formed through outlets that fit your tastes. Your beliefs are the culmination of all of these, none of which you have any real control over, because from birth to death, you are nothing more than a product of environment and genetics (oddly enough, your genetics are a culmination of your parent's genetics, environments, personalities, tastes, interests, recieved information, and beliefs...and so on from generation to generation). The life of every single entity to ever exist could be traced from present to the very beginning to the very end if any system of entities were that memorable and intelligent to figure so much out...but meh, they don't.

I look at it like this, if there's nothing afterwards, then I just die, end of story.

If there is a heaven and hell afterwards, I've lived a damned good life, I stick to almost all of the rules most world religions set down, I consider myself pretty selfless, I'm a good, caring person- If God doesn't want me in his heaven, then screw him- I wouldn't want to be a part of a group that sentences people to an eternity of paradise, or an eternity of suffering based on nothing more than how they were brought up.

I'm an ex-catholic now atheist, and I don't care what religion people are as long as they don't preach, and try to change me. If there was one thing I learned from catholoism is morals. The biggest one is to LOVE EVERYONE, including those who think differently of you. What you are basicly saying is anyone who isn't your religion is going to hell, that the greatest, nicest people who aren't your religion are going to rot.

Forced ?

I am so sick of hearing the whinings of unbelievers who think Christianity is being FORCED on them !

If we lived in a communist country, I could probably entertain the idea of religion being "FORCED" upon us...but we don't. (Actually, I don't know where you live, so I will assume you are in America, too. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong)

Since we live in the land of the free [to choose to believe whatever you want], that is laughable, at best.

Fanglekai

I think Jesus said something about "don't judge lest you be judged." something else about "don't be like the pharisees" for a long list of reasons, many of which you just exemplified. he also said "sell everything you have" and "hate your parents" and how he came to "bring the sword." he also didn't like commerce (temple "cleansing") an example which was used by Hitler, but that's not the point.

Belief doesn't really matter. Your own individual thought does nothing until it influences action. At that point it has meaning. Believing in Jesus does nothing. It helps no one. Paul said "faith without works is dead." Well, Paul never met Jesus, so he doesn't really count.

I don't believe in a hell for many reasons you couldn't even grasp with your puny intellect. Unlike you, I don't "believe" myself superior to you because I already know I am. That's the difference between fact and fiction. That's the difference between what I believe and your silly collection of books written by long-dead people who thought the world was flat and didn't know about electricity, why it rained, or how to properly discredit someone so stupid legends like this don't pop up.

You can't tell us we're going to hell, because you don't know. Your silly book says so. "You cannot know the mind of God," and as such you can't know what he wants. Therefore you can't know that Jesus is God or what God wants, because it's impossible.

I'd rather believe in pink unicorns, because at least they didn't cause pain and suffering. Salud.

Digital if we lived in a communist country there wouldn't be religion forced on us. I'll provide examples of why in America religion is forced on people.

Monotheism and more specifically Judeo-Christian views:

"In God we trust" on money, which was put into effect by Congress to counter Communism. Communism forced atheism, not religion. There is no religion allowed under communism.

The 10 commandments displayed on public property while no other religious has a monument. I don't see selections of the Koran or Upanishads being quoted, thus it's catering only to this branch of religion.

It has nothing to do with "choosing to believe" because you don't have to deal with any other religious viewpoint as there is no significant competition in America. It's all christianity, unless protestants don't consider catholicism a form of christianity, which is stupid because it was the first massively organized kind.

I could go on but I'm not going to hijack the thread. I just wanted to point out that you're wrong, again.

FORCE

1. The capacity to do work or cause physical change; energy, strength, or active power: the force of an explosion.

2. A. Power made operative against resistance; exertion: use force in driving a nail.

B. The use of physical power or violence to compel or restrain: a confession obtained by force.

3. A. Intellectual power or vigor, especially as conveyed in writing or speech.

B. Moral strength.

C. A capacity for affecting the mind or behavior; efficacy: the force of logical argumentation.

D. One that possesses such capacity: the forces of evil.

4. A. A body of persons or other resources organized or available for a certain purpose: a large labor force.

B. A person or group capable of influential action: a retired senator who is still a force in national politics.

5. A. Military strength.

B. The entire military strength, as of a nation. Often used in the plural.

C. A unit of a nation's military personnel, especially one deployed into combat: Our forces have at last engaged the enemy.

6. To compel through pressure or necessity

************************************************** **

Does any of that describe how religion is approached in this country ? No one is FORCING Christianity on ANYONE.

And my comment about Communism was not that Communism = forced religion. I was illustrating that under a government regime that FORCES people to do things, this would be an accurate statement. Since America is not ran by a government regime that forces people to believe in ANYTHING, this cannot be said of America.

As a matter of fact, according to what you have said, Communism FORCES atheism. By this definition, is it reasonable for me to assume that are you a Communist ?

The examples you gave don't illustrate force, they illustrate the power of propoganda (though, in regards to Christianity, there is not nearly enough of this propoganda to have the impact that you claim it has...to FORCE people into believing it). Propoganda which, I must point out, was weclomed and enforced by the founding fathers. If you move to this country, and don't want to be a Christian, you don't have to be, but you should certainly expect it to be the predominant religious theology, because this was the theology of America's founders.

In countries that were founded by believers of the Qu'ran, you have monuments and etchings that are reminiscent of the theology of the Qu'ran. This is not a unique idea.

And no, Catholicism is it's own religion. Christianity is a belief, and Catholicism is a religion that bases itself on the theology of Christianity. They are related, but not one and the same.

You haven't even come close to proving that ANYTHING is forced down our throats here in America, let alone Christianity.

By your line of thinking, we should stop eating, working, and marrying...because we are being forced by social trends to do so, based on the prevalence amongst the majority.

Silly.

Silly.

Oh bullshit, no one is forcing Christianity on anyone? I haven't heard anyhting more rediculous in my life. Come on already, all our holidays and days off school are based on Chistianity. What if someone doesn't beleive in Christmas, sure they wouldn't mind the bonus or the days off work but its sorta redundent for them to say they're on a christmas break isn't it. School treat every kid, and naturaly assume were all Christians. Teachers right "BC" on the bored, not because they're used to it, because they think everyone beleives that jessus getting killed because hes a dumbass was a big enough thing for people to start a whole new thing in time, well I always have and always will tell those dumbass teachers to to put BCE on the bored because im not a Christian and its P.C to put BCE on the bored anyway. I've had to spend a whole hour about my teacher talking about god, that name means absolutly nothing to me other than some figure that everyone beleives in.

I have nothing against Christians exept when they tell me that im going to hell because I dont beleive in hell. The beleif in hell shouldn't be forced upon me, I dont tell my friends that god doesn't exist because that ugly balck female called god hasnt done shit. It's just some dumbass attempt at getting everyone to be nice. It's the "Everyone should be nice to eachother" free cult.

FUCKITALL2HELL.

Remember kiddies ,Satan loves you for who you are.....

You're an idiot. If God has enough power to create man, earth, stars, planets, the elements and the entire universe, then what's to say he can't find space to put a measley few billion "souls"? You lose, shutup.

It's being favourably showcased Not "forced" if it was forced then there would be secret police putting a gun to your head and make you go to church and stuff

It's forced because it's showing government favoritism towards a particular religion, something the founding fathers were against. If our money had slogans from every major religion on it, not just monotheism, and if displays of rules/commandments/ethical teachings from all the major religions were in place I wouldn't care. It's that anything other than christianity is shown as evil. That's why it's forced.

it wouldn't bother me because it is this life I came for and when it ends my purpose will be served so I don't have to exist anymore.
