Ok, this isn't my problem and i'm more or less an agnostic person. it's about someone across the street from me who is a sex offender.

1. He believes he has been forgiven for what he did.(12yo boy).

2. in god's eyes, a sin is a sin, whether not showing up one sunday, screaming "fuckit" in traffic or raping a kid.

any reality to those?

There can be different types of sins depending on what sect of christianity this person belongs too. In some sects, there are very serious sins and smaller, less serious sins. In other sects, they draw no line between the different sins. As you say, they think "a sin is a sin".

All I have to say is, did you tell the cops.

And, God will forgive him only if he feels remorse for what he did, adn some religions say that a priest has to forgive you on behalf of God but I reckon God can do his own work since he is omnipotent.

I thought that if you were actully sorry about what you did, then god forgives you regardless of how bad it was. I'm just going to confess all my sins on my deathbed, free ticket to heaven, and I don't have to waste my time in a church. Since it's so easy to beat god's system, maybe he should have some sort of a three strikes law set up or somthing.

I'm not sure what the exact problem is...

Is the problem that he thinks he's been forgiven?

How come you are enlightened, to know when you're going to die?

Id have to laugh if you really do that. More than likely you didnt know enough about it while you were living so you didnt know the right thing to say.

I bet the vic didn't forgive the asshole. Nor the vic's parents, who would probably like to kill the guy.

God does not forgive, has no need to--forgiveness implies having been offended or harmed--God can be neither offended nor harmed, what with being god and all. God just loves and creates.

Well, as long as I don't get exploded, then I'll hopefully have enough time to comfess some sins before I die. Maybe not all the sins, but I could at least confess all the major ones. If I get shot, or knifed, or whatever, there will hopefully be a few minutes untill I die. Whatever, if I don't have a chance to confess, I don't care, I don't believe in that shit anyways.
