View Full Version : Why cant I find god somewhere, like under a rock?
this is to people who believe the bible as its written. It dosent fit me, so Ive been thinking a lot. Ive never liked organized religon, so why cant I find god in something else? something that suites me. What if theres only one way, Through yourself. I believe that once you are not afraid of purgatory, not hell. youll be at peace. thats our one true weakness death. If you arent afraid of it, well why cant god be there?

If this thread is directed to those that believe the Bible pretty much literally, then you may as well change the condition. You arent going to change their opinion.
And the only answer your going to get is "Because the Bible says so". The philosophy you are describing is humanism (sort of).

God is supposed to be everywhere and everything - even you and me.
If you can't see god then that's due to your state of mind. Hence, meditation, purification etc will lead you there. There's plenty of advise on the internet. Google new age spirituality, or read a book called "conversations with god" (very interesting).
Having god on your mind a lot and having a desire to see him will help.
I've had several experiences of what felt like being closer to God. It's an awesome feeling. I remember once looking at some branches and feeling like I was looking at god in everything. I kinda spoke out, apologising for not putting in the effort to see him more. I was sobbing and everything. It was nuts, but unbvelievably beautiful.
