I feel that religon in its purest form is a great thing because it gives a person a set of morals to live by. However, once a religons attempts to alter a persons life it should lose all crediblity. Too many people make religon theyre life rather then a small part of it.

The whole concept seems rather absurd to me. There are thousands of different religons but each one claims to be the true one. How arrogant is it to say that one religon is better or more valid then another?

another example of religion altering a persons life can be the fact that bush changes laws based on his beleifs. Banning gay marriage for example. Im not gay (not that it matters) But things like this are fucking bullshit. Thats the point I thought you were going to make so I just threw in what I thought when I read it. Im not trying to redirect the topic or anything

I can't seem to understand this point. I mean people that are very religious tend to regard other religions as inferior. My Protestant friends kept pointing out to me the contradictions in other beliefs like Catholic and Islam, while he can see no wrong in his own belief. Before he mentioned this to me, I use to think that he is 100% brain-dead, as in he believes whatever was told to him and never critically examine other religions. The truth is when it comes to questioning his own belief, his brain chooses to conveniently die.

Very true.

I am not gay either but i feel that it should be legal. The only basis against gay marriage is that the bible says it is sinful. However, the bible should have zero influence on the law's of our society.

People tend to see things in a way that benefit their own causes. I'm sure your friend is a cool dude but like you said he is utterly brainwashed.
