Since people like Paradise Lost have spammed my last forum (What does God Look like), I have created this forum so they can express the thoughts and feelings about atheism.
No, I am not a devil worshipper.
No, I am not another religion, i.e. Jewish, Hindu, Muslim.
No, I do not go to church.
No, I do not read the Bible, because if I wanted to read a fictional book, I could go to the library.
Enjoy.

I didn't spam anything, I was simply pointing out that if you want to make a joke atleast make it funny. http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)
You seem to have gotten it into your head that I'm a theist simply because I disagree with a fellow atheist.

The only reason for religion is because people are afraid of death. They want to think they are going somewhere when they die. So they worship false gods out of fairy tales.

This isn't the only reason for religion, many people need to get their moral basis from a set doctrine, a doctrine they can find within religion.

Why because they can't think for themselves, they have to rely on a book of fairytales to them the diffence between right and wrong?

Well calling them fairytales is a bit demeaning, isn't it? Why don't we go with moral stories.

Demeaning, no, not in my opinion. Its a matter of fact, because that is what it is.You really think the 10 plaques of eygpt happend? Or perhaps Noahs Ark? Even the parting of red sea? Stories like these resemble fairy tales.

I see you conveniently ignored the other part of my post, I claimed they were more like fables, you know, stories that have moral value to them.
No, I really don't believe in Noah's Ark or the Ten Plagues, does that stop them from having any underlying theme?
That's like saying we can't appreciate Aesop's Fables because they never took place.

I see, well i just think the bible and its stupid morals can take a hike. I just find it dangerous practice to base a life around 'moral stories'. People should wake up and learn truth for themselves. Ignorance is a dangerous weapon.

The stories in the bible aren't meant to be taken literally. They're supposed to be metaphors one can use in their daily life, to uplift and help them.
No, I'm not a Christian.

[A]theism is your own damn choice, and nobody has the right to try and change your mind. If I decide to worship a God it'll be because I made that decision. Not because some fanatic coerced me into it with threats of damnation.

I bet you the majority of people think god created the earth and them, if its not to be taken literally why do they beleive that?

There is believing that God created the earth and humans, and then there is believing that God created the earth and humans as it was written in the bible. Christian sects are split over which way this is interpreted.

Not that the bible doesn't contain any good moral stories, but the ten plagues must be one of the worst. Well, at least for someone who doesn't design terrorism tactics :P

I for the most part agree with this. Although I might add that the fear extends to almost everything else people don't understand. The eclipse I think was put down to some otherworldy figure just as today Christians put the universe down to some otherworldy figure.

Do not post repeat threads. This forum is repetitive enough...
