Sorry, this is kinda out of date!

Why does everyone keep saying what a great man the pope was? I'm sure he did a lot of good things, but one thing done in the name of god included telling good African Catholics not to use protection.

this resulted in the rapid spreading of AIDs and HIV throughout the country, people have even been born with it. Thats fucked up.

How can anyone ignore this when saying he was a 'great' man???

He was a great man ( I acknowledge it even though I'm not religious ), sure, he made mistakes, the one you mentioned being a major one. But he had lots of influence in the christian world ( such as your example points out ), and he used his influence to try and achieve peace. Just because someone makes mistakes does not hold him back from being a great man. He actually looked like a very pleasant person to have conversations with. If there is a heaven, he is in it.

So he forced them to have sex too?

It seems rather odd that the African Catholics would follow so closely his decree of no protection, yet obviously violate his decree of abstinence at the same time. Agree, no?

It is as odd as having a decree of no protection when the decree of abstinence suffices.

No protection for everyone, abstinence for everyone not married...

I can't beleive all Popes think they are infallble. It's retarded. So you were elected to be the next Pope, and all of the sudden the guy who won the election is infallible? I don't think so.

That isn't how it works.

They banned condoms in a few Afircan countries after he showed up. So even the hellbound people can't get them.
